Just finished Assassin’s Fate and damn… 🥹 I just want to say that I love Bee, but that final lie was cruel to Beloved tho, even if necessary for Fitz to finish the dragon. And cruel to Nettle who heard it too.

And that final scene “Ketricken smiled.” just left me weeping. Robin Hobb you will pay for my therapy.

about 250 pages in Assassin’s Fate and it annoys me so much when the Fool/Amber claims Bee as his child and completely ignores Molly or what she meant to Fitz. Molly who spent 2 years pregnant, everyone thought she was mad, gave birth to Bee, and basically raised her alone until her death.

I don’t think the Fool has any claim to Bee or her paternity just because he “merged” with Fitz. And even after 16 books I can’t like him or connect with him like I did with other characters. His friendship and importance with Fitz seemed too forced and abrupt at times when he was barely important/showed up in Farseer until Ass’s Quest. Even Thick seemed more present in the story than him. I loved him as Amber in Liveship Traders, but even now in Ass’s Fate I’m disliking Amber. I know he’s the most popular and favorite character of the series but damn, at this point I think people just like to like if that even makes sense.

(*needless to say that I obviously feel sorry for what he went through in Clerres and that that was terrible and awful)

this fandom treats Fitz and Molly’s relationship like smth taboo when they are literally canon and have so many cute moments

and there are also so many interesting characters that are never mentioned or talked about, that I’d never imagine they even existed before reaching certain books (bc of lack of fanart too) it’s like people are worried they’ll overshadow other characters even if their significance to the story is important too
