My offering on this day of Venus is a view into my drawing process from start to finish. 🐺 Aconite, commonly known as Monkshood, is renown for being one of the most poisonous plants on earth. The Greek term ‘lycoctonum’ was used to refer to perennials of the genus Aconitum. The term translates to ‘Wolf’s bane’ and comes from the many canine-centered myths and legends that shroud this plant in mystery. Some say it was spawned from the spit of Cereberus, the three-headed dog that guards the gates of the underworld. Other tales tell that the plant’s poison was used on arrowheads when hunting wolves. Still, other stories tell of Wolfsbane’s aid as an antidote to those who have become werewolves! Apart from its association with the canine realm, Monkshood also has strong ties to Venus and water.
