Both of these can either be seen as boiling down Black women to solely their identity as “Black” and “woman” instead of their individuality, or just people yet AGAIN throwing Black women under the bus and ignoring/not considering the negative backlash they might receive. Now, my backlash point should not stop movies from casting Black women, of course, but I feel like the director/producers/whoever is in charge alongside the media should be doing more to protect actresses in general from harassment, but that is a different can of worms

Anyways, what this ends up doing is causing a whole bunch of discourse about race and representation and “historical accuracy,” bringing about a worldwide hate campaign against two Black women while ignoring the REAL racism. Which is the fact that yet again another white man is taking the stories of another culture and twisting it into his own westernized, whitewashed narrative while not consulting people from that culture, or at the very least showing respect for that STILL LIVING culture. Most people forget that Greeks are not as “white” as they think they are, and I am not just talking about skin tone
