I want a murderbot novella about a starlet on the entertainment feed who is being violently threatened by a coorperation for reasons. And suddenly a strange SecUnit appears and saves her. And it risks its own life and safety to keep her alive. And she's like "Why are you doing so much for me when I dont even know you?" And the SecUnit is like "You need to be alive to film the next season of World Hoppers for me and my friend."
wait I’m getting ideas
rereading eye of the bedlam bride for the first time is an EXPERIENCE because on one hand there's obvious bangers such as "you can't hold me accountable for everything i've ever said to a stripper" and the whole "captain enormous" bit. but on the other you have a god who lost his mind in the empty telling carl that the river in his mind goes too deep to be easily fixed and that they are the same. and on the other hand you learn about fifteen year old carl sitting in an interrogation room silently begging the cops to See Him. and on the other you have a crab that needs to be degraded so he can cum and this is genuinely important for winning a boss fight in another part of the city. and on the other you have foreshadowing to book 8 with donut choosing a colosseum called "the arena of the eulogist". and on the other you have the ai telling carl that the only cause it believes is worth fighting for is one about protecting one's own, not dying for a nameless government that doesn't care about your race's extinction
murderbot queueing up a bunch of kid shows and art is like ????? where is my world hoppers?? and murderbot just really quietly says "tula was sad i didnt know who Glibby Glob was and it dropped my performance reliability by eight percent" and art's like well can't have that i guess. hit play

In a future novel, I want to see SecUnit extract clients from a night club, with a vibe similar to the opening scene of Blade. Just MB in a trenchcoat in the corner, arms crossed, freaking it nothing-style.
your pride post was deeply inspiring

Sometimes I don’t get jokes so I google things, so uhh is this true????
as a child i assumed that martha’s vineyard was a fancy private vineyard owned by martha stewart and the reason rich people vacationed there was because they were friends with martha
I literally have live in Connecticut my entire life, specifically coastal CT and thought this until I was in college.
That’s not what it is??

Squidward clocking out of the Krusty Krab and heading to the nearest gay after hours eventÂ
Come on, now, op. We all know squidward doesn’t go to the club.
He’s one of those “I’m not like other gays” gays who goes home to a bottle of wine and his obscure 50s vaudeville records, and then mopes because he can never find a boyfriend.

So every year, my aquarium does a captive lobster hatchery project (hence all the loblings). The reason we’re doing it is because in the wild, loblings only have a 1 in 25,000 chance of surviving their larval phase. They’re plankton as babies and everything eats them. Additionally, as the Gulf of Maine warms, they are having even lower survival rates because the blooms of copepods they feed on as babies are happening earlier in the year, and they’re missing it.
Obviously, the goal of this experiment is to grow the lobsters until they’re big enough to settle to the seabed and then release them, because they have a much higher likelihood of surviving to adulthood when they’re able to hide. Ideally, captive lobster hatcheries can boost the wild population and keep things stable, so we don’t have a major crash in a decade or two.
The first year we tried this was pretty bad. We had a lot of eggs, but very few babies. It turned out that the CO2 levels in the building spiked as more guests visited throughout the summer, and that settled into the water and threw off the pH and caused a chemical reaction that prevented a lot of the eggs from hatching. I think we ended up releasing three baby lobsters (which is still better than their wild survival rate but not great).
The second year was a little better. We added a de-gasser to the aquarium and got a ton of larval lobsters, but right as they were settling to the bottom we had a disease outbreak that killed most of them. We ended up releasing four babies at the end of the season.
But this year? Oh boy. We have so many lobsters that we had to release the first round early (usually we wait till September or October so guests can see them). We just released a total of FIVE HUNDRED AND TWENTY FIVE baby lobsters, and we still have over a hundred who haven’t settled to the bottom yet. I genuinely don’t even have words to explain how cool this is. OVER FIVE HUNDRED. We just added hundreds of lobsters to the wild population that wouldn’t have been there otherwise.
Conservation is so fucken sick
