hi!! i dont usually do asks and the post is from a bit ago, but i saw your sad siren Rain post and i really liked the lore and so i had a few questions:
is there a reason why sirens (ex. Rain) look so similar to ghouls? are they related in some way? Or is Rain putting on some siren song spell to mimic?
IF Rain is putting on a mimic, do you have any idea of what the original siren form would look like? would they look more like mermaids or eldritch sea creatures or neither? (or both??)

ALSO TO BE QUITE HONEST There's still ongoing details I'm constantly working out because of in depth questions like yours actually so really, I'm ad-libbing and perfecting my AU's lore and world building even now as I try to answer your query!
So lets get into it!!! (Also I'm on mobile and its 11 pm as I respond so pardon any BS writing or grammar)
So from how I've been trying to structure my version of Hell is this:
There's 2 actual big main sides- a colder side and a hotter side. Because in any Biblical stories there's mentions of hellfire and stuff, but also some like to believe of the frozen depths of Hell thing, ya know?
Within Hell, you have the Sins and the Elements.
Elemental demons were made first to make Hell. Quintessence demons are rarer because they are literally capable of holding and making up EVERY element and its often more difficult to make them because of that. (If yall my yappings on all THAT, I can absolutely make a separate post in that lol)
For the longest time during the Creation of the world, it was just Lucifer with his few First Demons of the Elements UNTIL... humans. Specifically until Adam and Eve left after eating the apple and they were now able to sin.
THATS when Sin demons were able to manifest. The longer and more advanced humanity became, the more Lucifer had to create and make his demons adapt to tempt and ruin as many humans as possible.
He had the Elements make terrible storms or famines, and the Sins to tempt and lead astray. And when it got to ye old days of piracy and sea traveling... he thought "Oh well this will be fun."
(Side note... my version of Lucifer is a little prick who does shit because hes either bored now or wants to troll. He absolutely had a hand in designing social media in the modern days.)
SO to finally get to your question on whether sirens are related to ghouls/demons... YES.
Sirens are the culmination of water elemental demons and Lust/Pride demons. Lucifer basically said "okay but what if succubi... were in water???"
So the first ever sirens were mostly pretty much made during that piracy age and thats why there's MORE stories passed down from that era. If I had the energy to, I could actually do more research in exactly when mermaid types were first spoken off, but that may be an add on for later lol.
The point is, Rain was created just a bit after the Golden Age of piracy, so he's been around a long time. But because of story and his character arc reasons... bro was solitary mostly. Didn't care to work in a pod, and felt weird and isolated when he tried to join one. He could still hunt on his own, mostly small ships or very rarely don the human form to go on land. But he mostly kept to himself. And if he's being honest, he wasn't even super good at being all... tempt-y and stuff.
The reason also why Rain would actually have more human-like features than a normal water ghoul; like Dewdrop or any of my other water ghoul designs... is BECAUSE he is literally designed to be an attractive human looking thing to lure and seduce and tempt or eat. He almost has that uncanny valley vibe of looking TOO human and beautiful to the point that there's something slightly off. I'm not good at drawing that yet in my art of him, so when you at least read my shitass writings with him in it—especially in his glamoured human disguise—just like... keep that in mind. It also adds to his being otherworldly as well lol.
He fucking hates it BTW...
But thats a whole other story for our ghoulie to discover on his own <3
And like the lore post mentioned, it is a SUPER RARE AND EVEN STRANGE occurrence to even be able to summon a siren? Like... they weren't designed for summoning. Succubi, yes, duh. Sirens are supposed to remain mysterious and unnoticeable, in a way. Most sirens dont even live long after because the trauma and the abruptness of being out of water and potentially losing their tail when touching land is too much and they aren't able to function properly. That being... Rain was incredibly lucky he survived.
Although for a while... he wishes he didn't...
I will add on tho, that there are some potent pure water demons who have taken on the large eldritch creatures just because thats how Satan made them, but they're like... secondary forms to fuck with the humans lol. I.E, the Kraken, maybe even the sillier ones like a Loch Ness. Literally my headcanon is that any crptid creature "discovered" was just a demon caught slipping lmao.
