We have many bonds now Of that I know But their all at arms length We can't feel their warmth

I know there's a bit of discourse around how the finale played out, but when it came to the events of the movie....

When Pomni pulled out that gun, I thought she was going to old yeller Jax for a moment.

Something that absolutely boggles me is the fact that when someone makes something cool, and it gains any amount of popularity; people will feel entitled to the creators attention.

I'm sure those that follow me or have seen my posts and know what I'm about, know what this post is in reference to. However this isn't the first time I've seen shit like this happen.

It's wild to me that when someone makes content or popular media of any kind, people start to no longer see them as human. It's like a switch flips in their brain and they go "You're not a person, you're a source of entertainment" and mentally dehumanize the people behind whatever thing they like.

Right now I'm seeing it happen to indie creators like Gooseworx, and other creators under Glitch Productions. However before I was in those fandoms, I was part of the DSMP fandom. Of course, this was back in like, 2020. So we didn't know a lot of things about some of those creators at the time, but some of the ways their chatters treated them makes me think of this.

There were many instances where chatters in their streams would say or do really messed up stuff to those creators. The most notable instances in my head is when Ranboo (pre-face reveal) couldn't eat at a restaurant because fans wouldn't leave him alone. And when Tubbo's chat fat-shamed him for having a pizza.

Now, when it comes to fandom spaces I tend to be a lurker. I make posts here and there, and comment when I have something to say, but for the most part I don't like, go out of my way to contact any of the creators behind the thing I like. If I want to let them know I like their thing, I leave a comment where it's appropriate to do so, and move on.

But for some reason that mindset seems uncommon these days. Either that or the minority of people who think it's ok to do that are very loud.

It's like the second someone does something moderately entertaining, the creator becomes dehumanized to their audience. Like they went from "Just a person" to "Court Jester", and now the audience is throwing props at them and demanding they do a silly dance.

IT'S FUCKED UP

Creators are people too, and I'm tired of people on the internet pretending they're not. They deserve to be able to exist online, without being hassled by "fans" who are just begging to ask them questions or tell them about how they disagree with their art or whatever.
