I’m realizing that independently, Toby Fox and Griffin McElroy both went “hey there are crystals that game characters can look through to see the real world, viewing a parallel level of reality from which their worlds are created and fed, isn’t that fucked up” but then one of them continued with “and you will be given these crystals by manlets that fight you in other people’s basements,” and the other continued with “and this is a plot device to explain how elevators were invented.” how am I supposed to pick a favorite
