turns out that actually rupaul made the same tweet twice with 1 word changed 8 months apart. he meditated on this for 8 months and 5 days and the word ladykins came to him. i initially thought he copy pasted the first tweet but i dont think thats true anymore i dont think he was operating with any memory of the first tweet i think these words were always in him and will always be. second tweet did way worse by the way. the people did not respond to ladykins

Gimmie Eridians who are absolutely heartbroken to hear that humans where so desperate and so scared that they where willing to part with not just one Grace, there were three of them! Gimmie Eridians touched to find that the humans planned a way for their sacrifices to be as comfortable as possible. Gimmie Eridians who send earth a message saying “We know it must have hurt to send your heroes to die, but one made it and he’s safe here. We lost 22 good Eridians on the journey we would have lost 23 if not for your Grace.”

Give me humans sitting on Earth slowly coming to the conclusion that when we look up not only are we not alone, someone out there is alive because of one of us. That no matter what we think of ourselves a whole species thinks highly of us because we helped save the galaxy. Give me humans who figure out how to send a probe to Erid filled to the brim with messages for Grace and footage of a monument being raised that reads his name, his crews names, and then “in memory of the 22 Eridians who lost their lives on the journey to save the stars.”

So. Pratchett!#And then I thought I'd be done after small gods but then may 25th and I realized I'd never actually read any of the watch books #Despite owning night watch for years #So I read that and would you belive it. These are important things I have learned about writing fiction. I know these things, but sometimes I need a reminder. So I am writing them here, both as a reminder for myself, and as a reminder for all those who, like me, sometimes forget.

Characters must make choices.

Characters should often make bad choices before they make good choices.

Character choices should drive the vast majority of the plot. Characters reacting to having random stuff thrown at them is far less interesting than characters reacting to the stuff they've thrown after it's ricocheted around and comes bouncing back toward them.

If a character refuses to make a choice, there better be consequences for that too, and you better have a damn clear way of showing those consequences to the reader and the character.

Nearly every time I'm struggling with writing something, taking a step back and thinking about these 4 things usually helps get me unstuck.

Book Omens: Two…. well, I dunno if I can say ‘well-adjusted’, but definitely functional and independent people who also just happen to understand and enjoy each other’s company more than they do anyone else in the universe. GO1: Considerably more Not Normal About Each Other and with more Issues, but in compelling way that drives forwards the new romance melodrama angle, kinda mildly codependent to the level that's fun to play around with in fiction, with a Happily Ever After that feels earned and real. GO2: A heartbreaking but realistic depiction of a relationship between two people who honestly feel an intense love towards each other, and yet this love is not enough to triumph over the many personal and interpersonal problems that slowly disintegrate the delicate equilibrium they existed in, can’t wait to see them resolve this by the next season! I bet it’ll be really heartwarming!
