Parent: *somehow turns it into a lecture that ends in her degrading my body and when called out about it gets mad and says I'm just making excuses all while ACKNOWLEDGING that her opinions could be WRONG but that she WONT back down from what hurtful things she said*

Mom when I was little: No, you got the notes down but it's not MUSIC, and your art looks terrible, you'll starve as an artist just go into medicine.

Mom years later after I defied her and kept practicing both my art and music all while going into medicine: Wow! Look at how talented you are! You are so good at music and art! God bestowed such a blessing on you to have that talent, make sure you're thankful for [obligation] because that's an opportunity that God could have given to ANYONE but chose you. So talented.
