Eyy! Full Body Atopic Dermatitis here. See how that sounds like a pretty nasty condition? It is! But it’s another name for I have eczema on more than 90% of my body. The ableism against skin conditions is systemic on multiple levels – from the body shaming to the industry monetisation of treatment. Moisturiser is expensive, especially if you need specialised stuff like I do in as much amounts as I do. On top of this, people thinking that it’s a small condition that a lot of people grow out of and find an annoyance can balloon into something so much more intense without warning. It’s an auto-immune condition. Sometimes the cause is obvious and can be managed, but if it isn’t, it’ll likely plague you endlessly, like it does me.
