I need more interactions between Sakura and Byakuya. Like, it's so important to me. Think of the parallels, man. THE PARALLELS.
Fundamentally, at the very core, they're actually so similar. They both come from a family that has a large name to uphold and both of them had to work extra hard to prove themselves worthy of being a part of this legacy, Byakuya because he's the youngest and Sakura because she's a woman. Both of them base their actions and decisions on this legacy, on what is expected of them due to this position.
They also think similarly about a lot of things. Like, I understand why it happened, but it's still so ironic that Byakuya couldn't figure out Sakura's suicide because they literally thought about it in the exact same way; as something necessary for the survival of others.
They also both know about Bushido, and there's actually a very cool analysis about it here.
I also think that it's interesting how Sakura is literally the only one that doesn't get some kind of a comment from Byakuya on these relationship charts.
And generally their dynamic is kind of really funny to me. We got to see a bit of it in Chapter 3 after Toko fainted after seeing Kiyotaka dead, and Byakuya just. Did not remind anyone that she was all alone and passed out and Sakura got mad about it because something could've happened to her. Peak ragebait. Made even better by the fact that Sakura's case was the one that made Byakuya betray his whole "don't say no one would do it just because you wouldn't do it" ideology because he just couldn't fathom someone giving up their life just like that. They're so similar at their core, yet so different in their ideologies, and it's so interesting to me.
Suddenly remembered Danganronpa existed, and of course I go dig up my best girl Oogami Sakura's story to look at, and get emotional about again, and then.
And then.
Mf. How is this where I find out Kenshiro likely survived his terminal illness??? That he's still somewhere out there in the Danganronpa world???
Do you. Do you guys think he knows Sakura is gone? In the main plotline he was one of Monokuma's bargaining chips over Sakura iirc. Do you think her final moments were broadcasted to the dojo and to Kenshiro while they were held hostage? Feels like something Junko would do, maximum despair right?
And then, because Kenshiro was forced to watch Sakura die for him and everyone else, did that grief solidify his determination? Was that the resolve which gave him just that one little extra push he needed to beat his terminal illness?
Do you think he then sought out Sakura's remaining classmates? Do you think him and Aoi mourned her together? Do you think he acknowledged Makoto, man to man, and thanked him personally for defeating the great evil that felled "the greatest fighter and rival he ever had the honour to have fought and known"?
Do you think Yasuhiro came to him at one point, figuring if anyone deserved to punch him or yell at him, then it wasn't just Aoi, it was this guy as well? Do you think Kenshiro refused to absolve him of his guilt, but told him Sakura would've been happy Yasuhiro lived on anyway?
Do you think that's part of why Yasuhiro ended up being a Branch Officer of the Future Foundation eventually, with actual shitloads of work and a giant target on his back? It's obvious to anyone that he's in it for the fame and glory and the pay and perks too of course, and that is true as well, but. Kenshiro knows.
And he knows this because, every year, around Sakura's birthday, when he and Aoi go to visit Sakura's resting place (sometimes with Makoto, sometimes not), the air still smells faintly like that insufferable, cheap cologne Hagakure uses liberally instead of washing his hair regularly like he should.
Anyway yeah I'm just full on delulu now and riding this angst trainwreck into the sunset hahahahaha
Dude their lore is genuinely so tragic it makes me want to rip my hair out. Like, even if it wasn't confirmed that Kenshiro specifically was a bargaining chip, it's still so devastating to think about the fact that he survived the odds only to lose her, like c'mon man why would you do that to me.
I have so many thoughts about them, and I'm so sad we didn't get more of him or their relationship because his existence as a character fascinates me. I need to study him like a bug.
I had this in the pile for so long idk if I’m going to color these gay people
yayy

Bruh imagine being Sakura Ogami in chapter 1
You’re trapped in a killing game. And you’ve been told that your family and the man you love will be harmed or killed if you don’t kill someone yourself and start off this killing game
Then one of the first nights, a girl you’ve been getting along with comes up to you and asks if you can stay in her room because she doesn’t feel safe. The irony of her asking you of all people isn’t lost on you. But you agree. You spend the night chatting and laughing and eventually she falls asleep. She’s vulnerable. It wouldn’t take much, you’re far stronger than her and even if she wakes up, the rooms are soundproof. No one knows you’re staying the night here. You could get away with it, and save your family and love in the process. You spend the night reminding yourself of all this. But it doesn’t matter. Despite everything, you can’t do it. You fail to convince yourself that despite everything, maybe you and the other students can deny the killing and revolt against the forces that put you here. That maybe your loved ones and the girl sleeping next to you don’t have to die
Only when you wake up the next morning, you find out that girl has been found dead. Someone else will soon be dead. Your choice to not start the killing game didn’t matter
I think about that a lot, actually.
To add salt to the wound, she pretty much signed up for her own death as soon as she agreed to work for Monokuma. If she was to kill someone, the only two options were that either she dies or everyone else does, and I doubt the second option would be something she'd be okay with. The whole killing game was just a timer until a stalemate for her, waiting and waiting to be forced on a death row. Maybe that's why the decision to kill herself came so easy to her. She was going to die anyway, at least that way she wouldn't have to hurt anyone else in the process.
She also got to defy Monokuma one last time by not letting him execute her, which was likely something he was planning from the moment he made her his spy.
monokuma could have revealed to hina that sakura had a boyfriend but I don’t think it would motivate her to kill. I think it would motivate her to trawl the post apocalyptic wasteland searching for a CD of Chappell roan’s ‘casual’ though

sakura is forced to abandon her femininity due to it being perceived as a weakness or something that makes her inherently inferior as a martial artist and the carrier to her family's legacy to the point where makoto gifting her silly little trinkets is an extreme kindness and something she's never experienced in her life. meanwhile asahina is forced into performing femininity as something she can never escape due to society's constant objectification of her and the way it reduces her to a dumb, hot girl who solves problems with her body and not her brain (a complete sexualized version of the jock trope) despite her being a prodigy in her field...... neither of them are allowed to express themselves in a way that is actually indicative of who they are or who they want to be and yet they are both cared deeply for the rest of the students around them even when those people's perceptions caused harm and even death...... ough.
The fact that they thought about it in the exact same way
Their parallels are so interesting to me
COME TO BRAZIL
(man's fantasy scene) did i ever post this
If I had a nickel for every terminally ill Danganronpa character, I'd have four nickels. Which is... Kind of a lot actually.

Imagine
Aoi execution music ending with a bittersweet-yet-loving tune as she, taking her final breath, the biggest smile on her face, reaches for above. Because she will finally be reunited with Sakura.
Just thinking
how do you think a traitor makoto au would go if he was being blackmailed by Junko instead of Sakura to help with causing problems in the killing game
do you think he would be good at giving Junko what she wants or would the threat to his family and sister not be enough to force him into compliance?
This is a toughie for me because I can never feel entirely certain of what Sakura actually did? Like, my understanding is that she was supposed to kill someone if Monokuma ever told her to and it just kinda never came up? And maybe she was feeding him secrets, but idk, she didn't seem to tell him about Alter Ego. Idk, that's one part of THH I genuinely think I might not understand. Did Sakura actually do something in the traitor capacity, besides just Be the traitor?
Anyway, I do love the idea of giving Monokuma more reasons to needle Makoto, and vice versa. Just a bunch of private conversations between them where they ragebait each other so easily.
I do wonder if being the traitor would mean Makoto got to know about the class trial system before the first murder. Because that could give him a decent out; if Monokuma is ever like, "Why didn't you kill this person when you had the chance? It's like you want me to kill your family!", then he can just go, "There are people two rooms away; everyone would know it was me! Plus, how am I supposed to overpower Taka??"
To which Monokuma presumably explains, "Makoto. Baby. It doesn't matter if the first murder is kind of a dud. The point is to get people killing each other, you egg!"
Yeah... I have no clue about how that worked either. I think it would hit harder if she DID do traitor things tbh.
You know, I kind of have mixed feelings about this. Like, we do know that she has been giving information to the mastermind because she confirmed it, but at the point of her betrayal and then death the only thing she could've really told them about is Alter Ego, and Monokuma knew about that already anyway. It is kind of boring that we don't get to see her actually do traitor things. It would have made the emotional impact of the trial hit a bit different, as well, and that's always fun.
On the other, I love how this makes this case even more tragic. She didn't even actually do anything, but the thought that she was willing to at some point is terrifying to the cast, and it makes sense. They're in a killing game, and someone just admitted to working for the person making them do it. Not only that, but it's physically the strongest person among them, who could definitely overpower them if needed. It doesn't matter if she was forced to or that she didn't even get the chance to do anything, what matters is that Monokuma's plan worked, and everyone is rightfully paranoid and in the mindset for murder.
But I honestly don't know, I think both are fun to think about.
