i feel like this happened more when he was young and new to the game and he had to learn the hard way to keep his watsons closer and the suspects further away. wastons close so theyre less likely to be physically harmed and are more likely to trust blanc and understand that he's looking out for them. suspects further away so they dont fully catch on to the watson dynamic and dont know how close he actually is to solving it.
with how he reacted to helen nearly dying i feel like its happened before, but not recently. felt like it didnt completely blindside him but was still shocking and scary enough that he isnt numb to it happening.
i feel like with this idea in mind you can tell that he was less concerned for martas safety, was pretty confident she would be okay even when ransom drove her around and stuff. this makes sense since money was a clear motive from the start and there seemed to be a bigger police presence in that film. plus everyone but ransom and marta and fran was staying at the house. easier to keep track of everyone if nearly everyone is in the same spot.
you can tell he was very concerned about jud's safety. he brings jud everywhere. to places we dont see him take marta (for several reasons im not comparing jud or marta to helen because helens situation is an outlier*). blanc takes him to the mourge, walks the crime scene, to il diavlo, takes him to the station multiple times, takes him home multiple times. he is dragging that boy all over town. partly cus he has a crush on him, and partly because i think he knew there was a significant threat on his life because jud clearly knew something, looked and was framed as guilty, and was hated by the whole crew. he had no one watching his back for him. wheres the best place for a guy that is at high risk of dying before the investigation is over? right next to the detective of course. blanc didnt have to push him around like that tho. he did that for his own enjoyment hehe.
*helens whole case is harder to compare to marta or juds because its set up is so different. the threat on helens life is very real, to the point its mentioned and shown in canon. her and blanc dont get a ton of time together during the "case" because they cant cause suspicion, especially since it isnt an official case. blanc is used to distract the group while helen does all her snooping.
The fact that there are gods with disabilities make me so emotional. Hephaestus, Tyr, Hodr, Odin and other disabled deities just prove that being disabled is a vital part of the human experience, not a deviation from it, and that concept alone is so moving. Just like there are deities for specific human experiences like fertility or war, there are also deities with disabilities, which just proves that we have just as much of a place on this earth as mothers and warriors do. The idea of that has genuinely pulled me through some hard times.
