Star Trek: TOS - Season 2 Episode 8 "I, Mudd"
Things learnt in this episode:
Chekov is a fucking pimp and I love him for it. Kirk has a serious case of objectophilia.

Goodbye, my t'hy'la...
Reading The Motion Picture book adaptation and coming across that part with the half-page long footnote inspired me to draw this... Version without text + more yapping under the cut ⇣⇣⇣
Okay but why don't people like Spock's Brain I genuinely thought it was a good episode. The plot is compelling (I don't even think it's that ridiculous,, the idea of using biological minds to run computational thought is COOL) and the character focussed element of "what if you had to save your friend's life with eldritch knowledge you could barely contain that was quickly slipping away from you because your mind was never meant to contain it" is also really compelling. Is it because the weird montage visuals are sort of silly? Because this is the show with penis stalactite I really didn't expect a weird visual to ruin the episode for so many lol

the enterprise's fabulous duo
I just love how curious star trek is.
The media is filled with so much "omg we discovered extraterrestrial life there what if it wants to harm us" but in Star Trek the response to finding new life is always like wow. What do you think they are like?
How do you think they feel right now? Do you think they know of this conflict? Should we ask them for the way? Should we offer them our help? Open a channel. Let's say hello.
And when they're met with suspicion or hostility their response is never to assume badly of an entire species. It's almost always "How do I show them that I'm a friend?"

kirk: spock will be acting captain in my absence. i trust him with my life and expect you all to do the same. *leaves bridge*
spock [hopping over the railing to follow kirk]: sulu's in charge
i know a lot of people have done this trend as them already but i still wanted to do it anyway
watching star trek pisses me off because of course spock is my favorite character. of course i think the alien who can mind meld and nerve pinch is fucking awesome. of course i think the guy with a complex origin story and emotional restraint is fascinating and maybe a little bit hot. of course the dude with great line delivery and daddy issues and eye shadow is my favorite crew member. the enterprise hired the coolest first officer ever and im falling for the bait
“And now we'll get what we want: a burger from the Five Guys restaurant. And if your conscience is bothering you, you should soothe it with the knowledge that you may have just saved my entire weekend. And all it cost was one shuttle trip, $13.99, and the diet of one Starfleet officer. I don't know about you, but I'd call that a bargain.”
