FMA Villains Week - Day 2: Corrupt. Dante!! I think I’ve never really drawn her in like 7 years I’m into FMA????? Probably cause I’m not much into the first anime serie, but still I like her, so there she goes for this theme. I admit this was made rather in a rush, but I hope you’ll enjoy it anyway. o/

full circle for both! they are both their mother's child, they are both cognizant of the other's personhood and struggle, they share the same pain and love and agony. all is one, one is all.

Lust supernaturally flinching when Scar brandishes a locket containing the hair of the dead woman she so desperately wants to return to being, though? It's a double edged horror. It's a sign that she's fundamentally, deeply, wrong, a crime against some unspoken rule of nature. For a human, it's evidence enough that a homunculus is just a blasphemous monster wearing a dead person's face; for a homunculus, it's a reminder that your current existence is tainted and broken, a punch in the face if you do identify with the human you were made to revive. It carries the a similar sense of pain as Mina Murray finding that holy things hurt her, and that the Almighty God she worships shuns her now.

Actually, maybe the way it really should've worked is if the anime had realized they needed to show past-Hoenheim looking really different in time for the ending. Ed could find the last surviving records of that guy, realize it's his dad's original body and original sins, then Envy turns into someone who doesn't look like Ed or Al but does look like that old picture, which would also be a visual reminder of the people Hoenheim wiped out - from how weird anime Envy acts, I think it's even plausible that Hoenheim's original son wasn't his from after becoming demigods but could've died in the first slurrying either by accident or because Hoenheim sacrificed him when the initial deaths weren't enough to finish the reaction. Then when Envy's nomming on souls, he's eating people annihilated and turned into raw material in the same way his original died, and he deals with this by being the one who insists the hardest he's not the original or human at all, and freaking out at the realization you're beating up the last echo of the original victims who also got fucked over by your shitty dad is certainly a worthy thing to add to the trauma pile that is the final episodes.

(Also if we're talking about Hohenheim sacrificing him, I'm personally much more suspicious of Dante tbh, considering how little she cares about Envy as a homunculus and how intense she is about Hohenheim. I could see her as the type of mother who saw her son as an obstacle between her and Hohenheim or somethin)

like in CoS when al asks if all of this is his fault and instead of telling him that it’s the fault of the people who’re most obviously to blame ed’s like, “i mean kind of, in the sense that all of our actions have echoing consequences and whatever your intentions were you still have to deal with the outcome and that’s our responsibility as people alive on this earth” AHHHHHH
