What I assume Ed sounds like in the gym.
@mysticalhearth
It is utterly wild to me that Amestris doesn't have planes. In our world, the Wright Brothers' first flight was on December 17, 1903. If Amestris et al were direct cognates of Earth, Ed would have been four. Mustang would have been 18-19. Their technology is almost hovering between steampunk and dieselpunk. Other than the automail, the tech in FMA stays mostly in the background. But its really interesting to play Spot The Difference between what they have and what Earth had at that time.
They have mechanical automata for prosthetics - ones that connect directly to the nervous system - but trains still run on coal. They have military tanks and automobiles that are a decade or more advanced to 1910's Earth but they don't planes and the only other flying machine I remember them having is Mustang's hot air balloon in COS. There is full color photography that is easy enough to access that an amateur/hobby photographer could fill his house with photos but books seem to be made on old-style printing presses and hand bound.
And in the more fantastic aspects: At least with FMA'03 there's all those weird cloning tubes in lab 5 and whatever Father was doing in Brotherhood required a goodly amount of piping and wires, which reads as more advanced than where they ought to be. They understand biology and genetics enough to make chimera but, again, they don't have planes. Transportation technology seems to have been entirely dismissed past the car and train.
It's weird!
(And don't get me started on whatever is going on with the fashions. Roy's historically adequate civilian garb doesn't match Ed's fantastical Hot Topic look doesn't match Scars 1970s yellow jacket doesn't match Winry's 90s style mini-skirt and tube-top combo that would have had her institutionalized in the actual 1910's. That part genuinely hurts me as someone who loves historical fashion.)
I'm sure a lot has been said on the topic of motherhood in the fma franchise as a whole, and one of my favourite examples of it being fma03's take on sloth being a character confined by it and violently rejects said role. But the topic of motherhood wrt Dante's character also keeps me up at night NGL...
I keep thinking about the implications of her backstory being a devoted mother/wife who desired to resurrect her son from the dead having to devote herself towards saving her husband no matter how many lives they ended up sacrificing at the cost an entire civilization being erased. I keep thinking about her as an immortal figure whose existence is built on the murder and bodily violation of young women, whose fractured picture of her ideal family has made her into this bitter and spiteful individual that parallels the homunculi in many ways, as boogeymen of the past haunting the narrative. I keep thinking about how she was as a young woman, that her once undying devotion towards her husband who ended up abandoning her now fills her with resentment and rage with the memory of it persisting and only growing stronger centuries after.
She's a character who, in her choice to be this immortal being whose immortal existence is built on top of genocide, chooses to position herself in the role of this benevolent mother, to the homonculi, to rose, and the world at large, believing herself to be its sole protector and guardian, and this sole figure who is alone deserving of all its power and the use of the stone to keep the world from doing anything "foolish". She sees others and, especially those dehumanized and marginalized by the state as subhuman and her responsibility to control over almost as if she sees herself as this religious figure or maternal figure, proclaiming herself to be some sort of a "shepherd of sins". There is so many motifs that pertain to the idea of motherhood when it comes to her relationship with the homonculi, izumi, rose, and etc. it makes me sick and i dont know where I'm going with this post.
So much to parallel Dante wrt cycles and her desire to bring her dead son back to life being inhereted and repeated through izumi...

Hey moot, question, what's your opinions on Wrathfull/Edlars? (03 Wrath Γ Ed shipping) :3c I like asking, and im curious to know.
I havenβt rlly heard of this rare pair before lol but I prefer ed and winry imo. Also ur the first wrath fan Iβve seen on tumblr heβs very underrated π₯²π₯²
envy why did u feed him those stones bro π₯
Whenever I try to rank my favorite homunculi I can't really do it because 5 out of 7 of them change the placement depending on the day but every time Lust stays firmly at number one and Pride stays at number seven. I suppose the problem with characters like Sloth and Envy is that the concept is insanely interesting to me and if we got more time to explore those two characters they'd easily be stuck in my top 3 but as it is they're kinda drifting around between Greed, Wrath and Gluttony. I guess ultimately it doesn't matter because all you really need to know is that Lust stays on top, no one does it like her
Doing some math and I realized that according to my timeline, Roy is two years old when Charles Darwin died. He's also only five years younger than Einstein. Which, because I made Hughes older than Roy to account for his rank, makes both Hughes and Trisha born the same year as Einstein. Trying to figure out where the characters stand in comparison to scientific advancement is so interesting.
Ed or Al or Roy could conceivably meet Einstein OR Tesla!! They're scientific contemporaries! (assuming these men exist in fma world)
