some of you have ‘identities’ that deserve to be invalidated. some of them are unhealthy, actively hurt disenfranchised groups, or have no basis in material reality. the overbearing identity politics that exists on the internet, this whole postmodernist idea of ‘I say it so I am!’ is completely irrelevant when we’re considering actual oppressions within societies/cultures. it is meaningless.

it makes me really sad that three years ago a study was conducted and they found that an incredible number of popular/leading menstruation brands have arsenic/lead/other heavy metals in their products, and no one raised a big enough fuss so the majority of period products-buying women don’t know that they’re exposed, against their will and without their knowledge, to dangerous substances. PERIOD PRODUCTS! the vagina absolutely and obviously absorbs this shit, and the manufacturers know this. to me the idea of lead and arsenic being in a tampon that is inserted into a vagina and kept inside for several hours is horror movie type shit. lead causes dementia! why does no one care? and it’s not only tampons; the study exposed chemicals in pads, liners, and they even found traces in period panties. so not only do these companies get away with this, it’s almost entirely impossible to find safe products with this in mind.

Lol it's the way the ask is worded for me. Like I'm supposed to feel bad that "blm and trans colors" don't look good on the rainbow flag. Much love to BLM, but I don't see why that would need to be on the gay pride flag. They are their own movement.

^I agree. Shoving everything into one flag (and by extension, one community) is lazy. It shows you have no absolutely respect for the different groups you're herding under one umbrella, and that you just want to look "woke".

I thought the whole point of the original pride flag was that everyone fell under it. No matter race, religious upbringing, class, education, country of origin, or ability? Adding more and more stuff to it just made it more clear which groups weren't being considered.

And who started it? Why did women start the feminist movement? It was because women couldn't vote, own property, open a bank account, access credit, attend higher education, or were even considered full fledged human beings. Women were being beaten and raped, couldn't access healthcare without male present, forcibly impregnated, and sent to asylum.

I’m convinced they all think it’s medieval torture and shock therapy. They don’t want to admit that their rhetoric is lifted directly from modern conversion therapy.

I was put through conversion therapy as a teenager. There were no electric shocks involved, no chemicals, no beatings. What did happen was a very friendly, charismatic and manipulative woman sat me down twice a week, asked me simple questions about how I experienced attraction and then shamed me and nitpicked every single answer I gave.

Someone in the community shared with me this resource about ITC (Intrafamilial child torture). The site has many articles on how to recognize ITC. It's organized, planned and strategic child torture that often ends in injuries or death. If some form of punishment was on your daily routine or you were deprived of food, sleep, bed, comfort, ability to move freely, and isolated from support, this resource could be meaningful to you.

Saying only women experience the sex-based oppression of misogyny is not defining women by our suffering. It's the first step in challenging sexism. If you cannot name a problem and its root, you cannot uproot it.
