do you think rhaena is gonna try to get sheepstealer back? I feel like she's gonna try to escape since rhaenyra is going gaga and baela is gonna help her this time
oh hey anon sorry i missed this!
i have a horrible feeling sheepstealer is going to be eaten by sunfyre as a replacement for grey ghost (the dragon sunfyre eats in the book to regain strength). sheepstealer doesn’t seem like he’s able to fly after the other dragons beat him up :(
i was thinking about rhaenyra baela and rhaena is s4 yesterday actually. i think after learning of ulf’s betrayal she’s going to lose trust in the dragonseeds - addam and hugh, who is definitely going to be emotionally fraught after finding his wife death - and as extension of them lose trust in alyn, corlys, baela and possibly rhaena. the velaryon’s turning against rhaenyra is a major plot point and i’m curious about his it’s going to be handled in the show in relation to baela and rhaena.
sorry for barging in like this but
it was so bad
lestat doesn't make a good main character
i’m just…..i almost have to laugh bc lestat/sam obsessives (no disrespect to sam at all) were all frothing at the mouth for this season. they all ignored and disrespected jacob/louis for YEARS in favour of the tacky blond character. and it’s just So Bad. i feel no different towards lestat than i did watching season 1 for the first time.
and the violent, horrific racism inflicted on the non-white characters, louis and regina especially. felt genuinely ill watching that.
at least we still have seasons 1 and 2 (which absolutely have flaws but are masterpieces compared to TVL). maybe they’ll actually hire black writers for akasha’s season.

Hi! 👋 Hope the fuckton of dental work is going well
My question for you: do you ever experience “fear of the blank page” while writing? Has it evolved at all over your writing career? And how do you respond to that feeling?
Such a great question!
I definitely experience the fear of the blank page a bit. That first sentence never really gets any less daunting as time goes on. The thing is, I learned that usually you don't end up writing the final first sentence of anything on your first try.
No matter how many WIPs I go through, whether I finish or abandon them, I always end up writing something from the middle of them first because I'm trying to capture their direction and point as quickly as I can. But even if you start in the middle, it can be intimidating to start at all.
I guess my main response to that feeling is to just write down some bullshit and tell myself that I'm not going to use it for anything. That way, when I come back to it later, I'm coming at it surprised to find things worth using, rather than disappointed that not all of it is usable. Once you accept that your first attempt at any story is going to more or less be for your eyes and your eyes alone, you realize that you really can start anywhere and write anything down.
It gets easier when you take away the finality of deciding it's something before it even exists. Make it and then decide if it's something or not!
Thanks for the ask and happy writing! :)
it was polly’s gotchversary a few days ago so here is the first photo i ever saw of her from the rescue, the day she came home and her current favourite place to judge me sleep
I dont know if this is allowed but is it ok to set ship boundaries as a writer? Like I am working on a series I plan to publish one day and there is a child character that I dont want shipped with any of the other characters because they're all adults. But I worry that this breaches into the "controlling fandom" behavior and I dont know if I as a creator/author am able to state that boundary or not or at least have it respected by the majority of the fandom
I mean hopefully that is a boundary that everyone would respect. Unfortunately, it is true that we as writers don't really get to control how our work is received once we put it out there. I don't see any problem with publicly asking people not to do that, though.
