All Evan remembered was waking up in some cell in some sort of science Facility. A frosted over apple was laying next to his hand- being preserved by the layer of ice but it was clear it was old considering a now frozen worm was laying limply half way out of it. It made him sick to his stomach considering he could still taste the sweetness of the apple.Â
Groaning he got to his feet and moved towards the cell door, at first it wouldnât budge. Panic struck him, had someone kidnapped him? What if they turned on the heaterâŚhe wasnât stupid, he knew what would happen if it got to warm for him. He had flat lined before and he doubted there was any sort of doctor here considering how dirty this place was. A Doctor wouldnât allow anyone of his patients to deal with this filth. Â
He rummaged through the room and crawled under the bed before finding the key card. Pulling it out with his index finger he slid it easily out from under the bed and began scratching the frost from it. It had a purple rabbit on it and what appeared to be frozen blood plastered on it.Evan felt his heart fly into his throat. He needed to get out of hereâŚimmediately.Â
He walked towards the door and slid the card through the machine. Relief flooded him as he heard the soft beep and the door click open. Using his shoulder he opened the door and stumbled out into the dark hallway. The first thing he noted was that it was warmer than he could handle for a long period of timeâŚhe needed to get out of the hallway and soon.Â
The second thing was the trail of blood that led to another clue. He moved towards it hesitantly before picking the paper up. It was partially covered in still cooling blood. It appeared to be a note that had been shaped like a rabbit- carefully opening it Evan opened it hoping for some sort of answer.Â
                  HEY KID,Â
THOUGHT IâD BE NICE TO LET YOU OUT                          TO PLAY FOR SOME TIME. MAKE SOME                           SNOW ANGELS OR WHATEVER SHIT YOU                          ENJOY. AS A SORT OF REWARD FOR                             BEING SUCH A GOOD BOY.Â
VINNIEâS THE ONLY ONE LEFT KID
MIGHT WANNA GO SEE HIM BEFORE
 SOMETHING BAD HAPPENS TO HIM.
Of course Evan felt his heart continue to beat violently against him. He was almost afraid that if he didnât calm down his heart would explode out of his chest. He couldnât stop staring at the letter until he felt the vibration of droplets falling on the paper. He was still in dangerâŚhe needed to find the way out.Â
With a huff Evan began walking the large warehouse, passed hundreds of dirty cells with all sorts of creatures cowering before him as ice began to snake under his feet before melting into small puddles behind him. He was losing energy and it was getting serious now.Â
Finally he found his way out, a large rusted door. He used the last of his strength to push it open. before him was a large field covered in snow and the town Vinnie lived in was below. Slowly he struggled to move. Feeling the ice beginning to cover his body again, feeling his strength return.Â
He moved slowly in the snow, feeling comfortable now as he began staggering towards town. His skin was a light blue, skin broken in places from the cold. Honestly he looked like a corpse that had been frozen under layers of snow but he felt healthier than he had in a long time. Which was saying something considering he felt like he wasnât going to be able to walk much further before his dizziness took over and he would need to sit before he vomited.Â
It took a couple hours before he found himself at a familiar door. His hand moved out to the wood barrier as he took a breath. How would his friend even do when he saw him? What would Evan even say to him?? But he had to get answersâŚhe had to see his friend. So after another moment he knocked softly. Â
Itâs gotta get boring, being on your own for so long. With no one to turn to, to really even talk to. There were always exceptions, cruel, cruel exceptions, but usually you donât want to talk to someone who could easily kill you without a second thought. It was unnerving as hell, even considering that sort of thing.
He found ways to manage. Whether it was distracting himself with the obnoxious acouasm that rang in his ears nonstop, or the occasional auditory hallucination that drove him up the wall, he found ways to âcopeâ with the idea of being alone. Although, he was doing a God awful job of actually coping; to put it simply, he wasnât. Paranoia was a bitch, just like the hundred other things that kept his mind busy, day in and day out.
If he tried hard enough, he could almost hear the others voices. Itâd be a helluva lot better if they were real, though, and not just familiar noises he was imagined. At least he knew they werenât real, right? Not yet, anyway.
Vinny turned the sink on, holding a glass underneath it, waiting, before turning it back off, fingers drumming the countertop briefly. With a half-hearted sigh, he took a swig, then set the cup down, leaning against the counter. His throat burned, and water didnât seem to do jack. Even so, he still takes another sip, ignoring the slight soreness that came with the effort.
He should really try to find a better pastime that wasnât doing nothing. It was surprisingly unproductive, and instead of just waiting around for something to happen, it might be a smart idea to go out there and do something. But what could he do, other than possibly just get himself even more fucked over? Well, you could always try to helpâŚ. Heâd seen how thatâd turned out. Though it was really more a matter of not understanding how he could help.
A knock on the door made his body freeze in place. His heart-rate quickened temporarily, mostly from the fear that was pooling in his chest. Slowly, he shifted out of the kitchen, eyeing the door both curiously and unsurely. Either he was hearing things for real, or someone was actually there. Heâd much rather have it be him hearing things.
Cautiously, he stalked towards the door, looking through the peephole to make sure it wasnât anyone that wasâŚ.unwelcome. At first glance, yes, it looked like it was an unwelcome guest, though he didnât quite realize that yet. He backs away, contemplating the next move; which, with a quick glance to the knob, he feels thereâs only one thing he can do, that wouldnât guarantee some sort of negative reaction.
Heâs careful when opening the door, admittedly feeling sick to his stomach when seeing the other. The words that come out of his mouth arenât exactly thought through, and when he says them, he just feels dumb. âYou look like shitââ Vinny said distractedly after looking Evan up and down. Quickly, he added under his breath, âNo offense.â
He knows itâs not normal to look like that, but heâd definitely seen weirder shit before.
Evan stood in the doorway awkwardly, not feeling the rapid frost biting wind nipping at his body. His fingers went to rub up and down his arm a bit nervously as he waited. Part of him worried Vincent wouldnât let him in, maybe he would just ignore the knocking and Evan would have to sit out in the cold and wait for some sort of interaction.
But when the door opened Evan looked up at the familiar face and smiled a bit sheepishly. It was true, he did look like shit. After all he was supposed to be dead but instead he was like a god damn ice monster. It was clear to Evan at least since him just standing in the door was creating icicles above their heads.
âYouâre preachin to the choir brother.â He said with a laugh, as he looked him over. He looked so warm, the house looked warm- he wanted to be invited in but part of him was nervous about it. He didnât exactly want to die but maybe if it wasnât to hot inside he would be ok.
âI uh...I kind of woke up a few miles away and I donât really know where to go. So I thought Iâd come by and at least say hello. Itâs been a while since I saw you and I...I donât know. I heard Jeff and Alex are gone and shits been going down. I kind of wanted to see if you were ok...â
