Dead-End Denial

Evan sobbed for a few minutes before eventually moving an arm so he could use his fingers to plug his nose. He hated this- crying and showing how he wasn’t ok. Sure he knew he was safe showing his true emotions with Alex here but he never liked to be viewed as anything but strong. He took a few shaky breaths to calm himself. “I’m sorry I’m such a mess…” He whispered after a moment. Leaning in and giving him a small peck on the lips before resting his head in Alex’s shoulder again. “I keep hoping I’m gonna wake up and Vinnie will be ranting about me doing dumb shit…” He said “I thought things were settling down, getting normal again. But obviously that was dumb of me to hope for.”

He knew he left Alex’s home after a couple months because he didnt want habit getting mad he was still there and hurting Alex. It was the only reason he had left honestly and he wanted so badly to go back to that house now that this had happened. Vincent had been having a normal life until Evan came back. He also felt bad for leaving without saying much to his boyfriend about it. All he knew if Alex was concerned about him and still wanted to be here. They still clearly loved one another and that’s all that mattered. Maybe eventually he could move back in- if he didnt think habit would be standing over him with a knife as a prank. Evan wrapped his arms tightly around Alex and pressed his face into his shoulder. He wasnt one to cry in front of a lot of people. Vincent was one of the very very few who had seen him even sob. Evan knew Alex had looked up to him, Evan was a rock in people’s eyes. But right now he was crumbling. His body heaved a moment as the first feeling of crying overcame him. His whole body began to shake as he tried to stop the tears but they wouldn’t be held back. He just silently sobbed into his boyfriends shoulder.

“Yeah…the concretes out so my backs fine.” He said gently, slowly moving so Alex could lay next to him. His back was sore still but he knew it wouldn’t last to much longer. He wasnt ok with anything else though. Vincent was dead and he had to burry him himself…he had lost someone extremely important to him. Someone he thought was the last person he had left. Evan leaned up and kissed Alex’s chin softly before resting his head on Alex’s chest. “Stay with me for a while ok…? I don’t know if I can be alone by myself in this house.”

“It’s ok Alex…” He said, feeling his hesitation at one point and looking over at him “I have fast healing- just go at it and try not to think to much about it ok? I’ve been shot before- this is nothing ok?” He was trying his best to reassure him before groaning at the pain again and biting into a pillow as he tried to breathe. He didn’t want to worry his boyfriend more than he had to. After the second one was over with he took a breath. “God after this I think it’s safe to say we need to cuddle a bit yeah? Because I sure know I need it.” He stated with a pain chuckle

“I fucked up pretty bad huh…?” He asked after a moment. His eyes looking at the ground when Alex said nothing. He tried to remain calm as he continued to just breath as he waited for the hammer. He was glad he had fixed the living room up. The kitchen was still absolutely trashed from Evans grief. When he felt the hammer he grimaced and bit down on the sofa in pain. Sure it wasn’t the smartest idea but it was better than going to the hospital. It took quite a while for the first one to break apart. Thanks to his fast healing the parts Inside him were already weak. So it didn’t take to much effort before the parts on the outside crumbled. “One down.” He groaned, “8 more to go…”

“They’re attached the the bone. I used a hammer for my back legs so that might be the best option.” He said after a second. He rested his his head on the couch as he tried to get his story together in the right order. “I…when I found vinnie dead I thought it was that faceless prick.” He took a breath “so after I buried vinnie I…I was so angry I kept hearing that voice in my head that I should make the dups pay. So I went to their headquarters and I killed…everyone.” He hadn’t realized just how bad his actions were. He thought he was doing a good think by avenging Vinnie but he had killed so many people. “I went to that things room and right before I could kill him- well you can see what he did. I didn’t even get to kill him.”

Evan did as he was told and slowly moved to lay on the couch. He groaned a bit in pain as he tried to get a bit more comfortable. Each spike on his back was about 8 inches in length. “So I’m thinking if we can’t take these out i’ll just become a part time dinosaur.” He said trying to joke around to hide his emotional and physical pain. He turned his head so he could get a better look at his boyfriend. “Thanks for coming by the way…” He said softly “So much shit happened I honestly don’t know where to begin my explanation about what happened…”

Evan wasn’t used to having so much concrete in him. Sure he had it a time or two but normally there was someone he was close to that knew how to remove the concrete wihtout hurting the bone. This time he had been using a hammer which hurt like an absolute bitch but once the concrete was take off that the skin could cover it it seemed to heal itself up. But He couldn’t reach his back…

[txt:boyfriend] Vinnie’s Dead, of course im not ok. As for the concrete ill live.

[txt:boyfriend] Yeah ill see you soon 

He finished off cracking the concrete in his leg and bent it experimentally. He had to admit he really did love the whole fast healing thing. He did not want to think about trying to get down to the bone to get the damn concrete out. 

When he heard the frantic knocking he got up, wincing at the pain in his back. He made his way to the door and let Alex inside before hugging onto his boyfriend tightly and pressing his face into Alex’s shoulder. 

He knew Alex was worried about the concrete but Evan really needed this comfort right now. He was happy to not be alone at the moment. It was a relief honestly.

[txt:Boyfriend] Hey, so I fucked up really bad today. Vinnie was killed today and I’m a mess. I did something I shouldn’t and now I kind of have concrete coming out of my back. 

[txt:Boyfriend] Do you think you can come over and either comfort me, help me get the concrete out of me, or both? I really need you right now. </3

“Heh, yeah I don’t doubt it.” He admitted as he was taken to the couch. It was a lot to admit he needed help and thankfully this time he didn’t. It was clear enough to see that he was in a lot of pain and he was really thankful for Alex right now. 

He did seem a little nervous, however, when Alex went into the kitchen before returning with the glass of water. He drank it quickly not wanting to turn it completely sold before he finished it. He hadn’t had anything to drink for who knew how long. Now that he was calming down a bit the abilities weren’t being hostile towards the host and Evan was just trying to breath. 

Even though the heater wasn’t on Evan felt heat on his skin. He could feel his skin almost feel clammy. He was worried about it but it wasn’t nearly as bad as Vincent’s home was. Evan could stay here a lot longer without worrying about dying as quickly.Not to mention the cold water was also making him last longer now that he was a bit more hydrated. 

He didn’t really talk much more, still in a lot of pain and not completely calmed down. He was still in a lot of pain from his powers turning against him. He whimpered a bit and when Alex began bandaging him he forced a small smile that appeared more like a grimace.

“Yeah…it’s a really long story and if you couldn’t tell I can’t really control it…” He began, showing Alex his hands where there were near holes through them thanks to the spikes his powers made. He really wished he knew how to stop whatever this was…he wished he knew how to control his powers. 

Evan was trying his best to hold off screaming anymore at the pain. He was trying to endure it, maybe it would end sooner for him. He wouldn’t die like a coward begging and screaming as his own abilites snuffed him out. Or at least that’s what he was trying to do. tears would begin streaming down his face before freezing and falling on the snow below as perfect crystal shaped ice. 

 He tried his best to breath even when he thought he felt one of the spikes hit his shoulder bone. His breath hitched partially from the pain and also from that familiar voice he heard over the snow. 

He looked up slowly, shock overcoming him as Alex came to his aid. The spikes were pretty easy to break off considering their were the width of a needle. His skin had a thin layer of ice against his skin still as he was pulled out of the snow and into the warm house.  

 His abilities continued, only this time leaving a trail of frost where his feet were dragging before the frost would slowly melt. Evan attempted to just breath, forgetting for a moment about the consiquences of being somewhere warm for to long. It felt warm…cozy even in this house. 

 His eyes scanned the room tiredly as he tried to calm down. His skin a bright blue and parts of his skin was chapped from the cold. But it was nice feeling the icicles melting out of his hands. Ice moved over the wounds once again. He couldn’t heal very quickly if at all and the ice was the only thing keeping him from bleeding to death in some areas. 

“Alex…am I dreaming?” He asked softly, the letter he had gotten at the science facility had told him clearly that Vincent was the only one left. Unless that Mr.H person lied to him. All this trip had given him was confusion and pain- he almost thought the cell he woke up in was better than this time being awake while his powers were apparently trying to kill him. 

“This letter I found said you and Jeff were…” He began before shutting up, maybe this was him seeing things. After all he had gone through a ton of pain just now. Maybe he was still out there dying. 

Evan was back outside- the last few moments of his time with Vincent were strangely fogged over. If it wasn’t for the holes in his hands where ice cold spikes were still obviously sticking out of him he would have assumed it went off without a hitch. Evan grit his teeth and attempted to pull them out but it just caused him to grunt in pain before giving up. It wasn’t worth bleeding to death over. He could always pull them out later. He walked through the snow, it appeared a snow storm was beginning which would cover him from any unwanted eyes. Sadly it also made it more difficult to walk in a straight line. Not that it mattered since he had absolutely no idea where he was going anyway. All he knew was when he turned back there were always ice spikes facing his direction as if stopping him from turning back.  It was frustrating to him! After all he had no idea how to even control these abilities and they seemed to have a mind of their own. As he walked towards one of the hills towards another set of houses Evan slipped. Feeling the ice underneath him and force him foreword. He yelped a bit and tumbled foreword down the slope before falling into a back yard. He whimpered a bit, attempting to get up when his abilities kicked in and the ice spikes began to get larger in the palms of his hands as it dug into the snow and the icey ground below. He sat up and tried to pull his hands out of their place but they hardly budged. He stopped when the pain became to much and he just sat their defeated for a while until he felt it on his back. Ice touching him, almost as sharp as blades, digging slowly into his shoulder blades. It would have been one thing if the pain would have made the icicles stop but it only made them grow faster digging into his skin. At first he attempted to fight harder until the pain became to much and he let out a pained scream. He could feel warm blood dripping down his back before freezing a few inches below where he was being stabbed. “Stop it stop it stop it!” He sobbed, he couldn’t control his abilities and he was stuck being tortured by them until someone helped.
