Rainy crashes
The two of you stood their in silence in the desert wasteland, staring at the sight in front of you. Your car upside down, lodged between two rocks.
You sigh, rubbing your arm where a bruise was forming after the crash, moving your eyes to glare at Enjin who stood there dumbfounded, as if it wasn’t his horrific driving skills that led you two to this situation.
The sky grumbled, a grey cloud casting over the sky as rain started to patter against the ground. It grew heavier as the water began to soak through your cleaner uniform as Enjin put up his umbrella, not even offering you some cover.
Tapping on your choker, you call Semiu and let her know the situation. She cusses out Enjin a few times before letting you know she’s sending over Gris and to not let Enjin anywhere near the ruined car as he’d probably cause more damage.
Hanging up, you turn to Enjin who stood dry with the same ugly expression on his face, not having moved since the two of you had crawled out the car. You stomp up to him and slap his arm, pulling him out his daze.
“Hey! What was that for?” He complains as he rubs his arm just like you were a few moments earlier.
“For crashing our car! Now we have to wait here for god knows how long in this piss poor weather until Gris gets here.” You say as he snickers at your bad mood.
His lightheartedness makes you tut, you supposed you’d be as happy as him if you weren’t soaked through. You turn away and bring your focus back to the smoking car, hoping that if you stared at it enough that it would magically turn over and fix itself so you could go back to the Cleaners base and bury yourself under your blankets.
Enjin looked at you from the corner of his eye, watching you as you kicked a rock in annoyance. Slipping off his large coat, he dropped it onto your shoulders, the sudden weight making you look back in confusion as he stood right next to you, now shielding you from the harsh rain with his umbrella.
You stare at him blankly for a few seconds before turning away with a huff.
“I’m soaked through, I’ll ruin your coat.” You say grumpily.
“It’s just a bit of water, but if you wanna sit in the rain then I won’t stop you, boo.” He responds, the nickname making you giggle a little.
The two of you fall into silence for a couple minutes, simply listening to the rain pattering against the ground before he speaks up again.
“Are you badly hurt?” He says with concern, a noticeable difference from his usual lightheartedness.
“No,” You shake your head “I’m okay. I’ll probably just get a bruise or two. I know you’re fine, you’d be rolling around claiming you were near death if you had more than a small cut.” You joke, despite it being 100% something he’d do.
He chuckles and shakes his head in amusement, denying your dramatic accusation. Silence falls over you again, the wet clothes that clung to your skin sending shivers throughout your body, your teeth loudly chattering.
Enjin stretches his arm out and casually wraps it around your waist and pulls you closer to him, warmth radiating off his body like a furnace. The warmth and crash catching up to you makes you a little drowsy, deciding that resting your eyes for a little while couldn’t hurt.
You shut your eyes and rest your head against his chest, sleep grasping at you. You force your eyes open, this wasn’t really the best place to rest. Enjin gently grabs your chin, turning your head towards his as he looks at you with heavy eyes.
“If you gotta rest, girl, just do it. Gris drives like an old man so he won’t be here for a while.” He says, rubbing his thumb softly against your cheek, leaving you a little speechless at his sudden affection.
You stare at him sleepily and pull his coat closer around you, resting your forehead against his chest. You sigh and look back up at him.
“No I’m fine. I’ll just sleep in the car.” You say, noticing a slight cut on the side of his neck, likely from a piece of glass from one of the car windows. You ran your thumb along it, wiping the blood away as he lets out a quiet hiss from the sting, so you lay your hand flat on the side of his neck to soothe it.
You lock eyes with him again, butterflies fluttering around your stomach as the tension between you grew. He leaned in closer, stopping right before his lips connected with yours, his warm breath fanning against your lightly flushed face.
He parted his lips to speak when the loud honk of a horn ripped the two of you from your moment, as you whipped your head towards the right and see Gris waiting in the car for the two of you to get in. Enjin pulls away, one of his smirks appearing on his face.
“We’ll finish that later, boo.” He says with a wink as he makes his way towards the car, you following quickly after.
