OR he’s going through the divorce process, or dealing with the aftermath of it… And I genuinely feel like they intentionally had (patrick) lose weight for whatever storyline they’re cooking up. I mean, chronic back pain is not going to be easy to deal with after transferring patients for the past three months…
And we don’t even know if Langdon is actually taking good care of himself or managing his back properly. We’ve only ever seen Langdon looking his absolute best after being away from The Pitt for ten months, fresh out of rehab. And the fact that he tweaked his back while carrying a child was definitely a little glimpse of what’s waiting for him…

something I’ve noticed in fandoms lately is a lack of… object permanence? perspective? Just reacting to each episode/chapter of something as if it’s final & whatever plot line they dislike is the status quo forever? like…… have a tiny bit of patience
I kinda understand because a lot of franchises lately have ended in shoddy and poorly thought out ways, but tbh either have some faith in your fav show or just write fanfic
this combined with people reading a boatload of fanfic between seasons then coming back to the show & getting upset that their headcanons aren’t canon… disappointment is a normal feeling but I also feel like people put themselves through unnecessary stress watching shows they clearly do not like

woc characters get put on a pedestal in their fandoms in a way that is so boring and itself kinda dehumanising. i dont just wanna hear about how they’re flawless queens, i want them to feel specific and real. and i understand why it happens, especially with younger fans, but fandom of these characters that’s oriented more around defending them from haters rather than engaging with them (beyond empty, repetitive adulation) is so… limiting and profoundly boring. you could explore these characters on their own merit instead you neglect any potential interiority, humanity, complexity in favour of letting rando haters be a hair trigger and building your faves up as impenetrable fortresses against them. and then its just girlboss with a coat of brown paint

I am saying this as someone who does, in fact, like Kingdon, and not a hater. I just don't care about it being canon because I am fandom old and grew up with the rule of shipping for the sake of shipping, even if your faves never touch lips canonically. Also, I don't feel like watching my tone rn so beware I suppose.
I'm extremely tired of people making themselves sound dense if I'm really being honest, deeply insensitive, and working themselves up into a tizzy over shit that ultimately doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things when it comes to fandom.
Alright, now that that's out of the way, please stop fucking summing up Kingdon being firmly placed as platonic by the cast members as solely being based in ableism and misogyny because there are other "romances" in the show when said romances are:
• Robby and Collins: an over-50-year-old man trying to avoid deeper connections that he wants to have but won't allow himself to, so he sticks to coworker friends-with-benefits esque relationships. Depending on what happened exactly in their relationships, Collins thought he'd be disapproving of her aborting his baby
• Santos and Garcia: a lesbian situationship where one person is very clear that they don't want the relationship to be more than, once again, coworkers who are friends with benefits. It's heavily implied that Santos wants more than that, so Garcia is actively pulling away and trying to reinforce her previously stated boundaries.
• Matteo and Javadi: a possible romance, in which it's not really confirmed in the show even if a cast member thinks it's canon. It could be because Matteo returns the Javadi's feelings but they aren't dating, OR because since Matteo works the night shift, he made an exception to his "no dating coworkers rule" since they aren't working directly together as much.
Listen, I have both ADHD and Autism, and people perceive me as a woman IRL, so I technically understand the knee-jerk reaction. But I also think people need to be capable of looking at the actual context of the show and why it was made instead of immediately assuming the worst.
Kingdon being platonic does not mean the show is saying disabled women can't have any romantic relationships, especially with someone like Frabk. Sometimes two characters (even if that character is marginalized!) can have a deep, meaningful, intimate bond without it being romantic, and that is not a lesser type of relationship because they stay as friends.
It's also incredibly frustrating seeing people act like the cast clarifying their own interpretation of the characters is somehow a bigoted attack on fans who ship them. You can ship something, enjoy it, write about it, and create art for it while also accepting that the creators and actors may view the relationship differently and so it may never be canon in the way you want it to be.
And the way some people have reacted to Patrick Ball talking about how important The Pitt is to him and his family as a medical drama show that is not solely focused on romance drama, because of the suicide of his parent's friend, who was also a healthcare worker, has been genuinely fucking disgusting. Turning someone's personal connection to a story about healthcare workers, mental health struggles, grief, and loss into ship discourse is deeply disrespectful.
You can disagree with a creative choice without being cruel to the people who made the show or the experiences that inspired it.

To me, the whole "if you like Langdon then you can't not like Santos" argument is bullshit. It's just a way to cope with the fact that someone doesn't like or is critical of your favorite character.
Here's why it doesn't hold up. Langdon and Santos are very similar characters, that much is true. But they show those similarities in very different ways. So you can still catch the similarities between them while reacting to them completely differently.
That difference matters, because it changes how you and the other characters themselves interact with each of them. Their similarities are expressed so differently that the way you think about Langdon is not the same as the way you think about Santos. Liking one doesn't mean you have to like the other, and it doesn't mean you're being inconsistent.
