I keep thinking about how fucking odd all of Langdon’s interactions with Whitaker are. He notices Whitaker still has his student doctor badge at the beginning of the day. He notices that he got a new one at some point. He makes a comment about how Whitaker ‘has gotten into shape’ while he was gone. Like he’s always looking at his body and making comments about things he’s noticed. Not to mention the very big reaction he had to finding out Robby has asked Whitaker to house sit for him.

I’m just imagining Langdon developing a weird psychosexual fixation on Whitaker. He knows the perils of being anointed by Robby first hand, but he can’t help seething with jealousy regardless. He craves proximity with Whitaker because makes him feel closer to Robby, as if touching the one basking in the rays of his mentor’s approval can replace the warmth that slant of light once gave him.

Meanwhile Whitaker has no idea any of this is happening. He’s just trying to juggle all of his commitments and get through his shifts without killing anyone or getting sprayed with body fluids, wondering why the guy responsible for seriously degrading his one friend’s mental health keeps looking at him like that.
