parents misgendering you and deadnaming you is like when people look at a character n say "ik what canon says but im going to do something completely different and then bully people to death if they dont agree with me"

what if there was a horror game and you played as a dumbass and at some point in the game the leader of the bad guys is like i picked you as a victim specifically cause youre an idiot so how have you been able to solve all these puzzles and defeated the monsters despite being a coward. ooohhh.... the players helping you, arent they. well dammit minions we arent gonna win this round. adn the mcs like what. huh. what are you talking about. and the villains like cmon guys we still gotta put up a good show. and the minions are like ugghhh thats so disappointing... fiiiinee. and it was a special secret cutscene you only get if you solve a vague secret puzzle around thegame or whatever. and after the mc gets out and is like huh... that was really weird. well ok whatever . and never mentions it again. and if you complete the game by setting yhe mansion on fire or whatever you get a second secret cutscene where the mc escapes the the villain is screaming in the fire and is like aaa aaaa aaaa.... ok is he gone?? ok finally. well. time to clean up and reset the traps andstart over... omg wait. and the minions are like oh? and the villains like guys... guys i feel the presence of the player upon me.. were gonna succeed!! and the minions are like yay!!! and the villain holds up an ancient tome that has a handwritten link in it and says player i humbly request your help. and it only plays if you sit and watch the entire credits. and then if you copy the link into your browser it links to a download of a second game. and the second game you play as the villain repairing the mansion and resetting the traps and stalking and capturing a new sacrifice and completing a ritual to bring some sort of demon to the world or whatever.

less media like "mom/dad you tried your best, and thats what matters, even though you didnt always do the right thing you were trying to protect me" and more media like "i dont care how hard you tried, you failed and you hurt me and i dont forgive you"

i kind of understand how people fail to read subtext so blatant its practically slowly sounded out for the audience. these are the same people that will look at a sign on my door at work that says store closed, knock on the door, point to the sign and ask with genuine confusion, are you open?
