i’m reading some of the ninjago magazine comics i haven’t read yet and…

while the dash is talking about it i have SUCH a pet peeve for when people who don't ship something romantically IMMEDIATELY jump to sibling or parental relationships for characters who are v much not family just to fully separate it from romance. sure, there's definitely characters who end up feeling that way about each other and plenty of real people who consider their friends like their siblings or parental figures/like their children but. i feel like some of y'all constantly forget that being friends is an option. like. you can just see these characters as friends its okay. not assigning a family role to a set of friends doesn't mean you're implying they'll inevitably become romantic, and not tying romance or family to a friendship doesn't make it lesser. sometimes i feel like people do it to try to generate a feeling of disgust or moral apprehension about shipping characters by trying to treat them as if they're related but you can just. not ship them and be happy with that, you don't need to invent a moral justification for not seeing them romantically. friendship is awesome and doesn't matter less than romance or family and people need to get more aromantic about everything i think <3
