"I don't think telling my secret will absolve me," Martin murmured, not looking at the women. He could sense great power within her but he didn't want to address it. Instead, the young man shrugged and kept step with her.

That wasn't quite the answer she was expecting, and an eyebrow curved upwards then thoughtfully. "Do you think it would be easier, though?" she asked, as she walked side by side with him. It was such a strain to Kiara to keep her own secrets firmly locked away.

"Well it depends on the secret," he admitted. While his powers were not a secret, what he did with them was a source of guilt. "Not that I'm looking for said absolution."

An awkward peal of laughter bubbled up. "I should be sorry," he muttered, suddenly feeling sheepish. "You probably met lots of emotionally stunted alphas with an all seriousness no softness bullshit." A blush bloomed on Ethan's neck and his mouth curled into a faulty smile. "You might have to beat those meaningless hierarchical rules outta me, babe..."
