Patrick bit his lip, trying to mask a wave of panic. Could he justify existing in this humanlike facade, if it did nothing for the people of Earth? Sure, this was only one person's opinion, but he'd been trying not to consider the idea that it might just be selfish to stay. He couldn't give them perfect understanding, couldn't offer them protection while in this form. If he couldn't find a better way to safely show them someone cared, maybe he'd be best elsewhere. But no, it's not that simple.
