Dennis Withaker never meant to become a movie star but when he got scouted at a mall (apparently he looks exactly like the character was described in the book) when still in med school and found out how much money he could make by filming for 6 weeks during summer break between his first and second year of med school he can't turn down the role because he has student loans. Besides from what the people working on the movie are saying it's only a small movie and it's probably not even be released in theaters. So Dennis thinks nobody will see it and uses the name Dennis White in the credits so his future college's and patients wont even be able to find it when the google him. But one of the studio's other movies get unexpectedly delayed so they need something to release during that newly vacant slot and the "small movie" Dennis was apart of becomes the number one movie at the box office making a record breaking amount of money. The character Dennis plays becomes an instant fan favorite and now the movie studio demands Dennis completes his 5 movie contract (he couldn't afford a lawyer so he signed the first contract he was given). Thankfully the movies always film in the summer so he gets to finish med school but doing so without getting recognized has been a challenge. He still had to do two movies when he graduated so he's been forced to delay starting his residency to his great regret. At least his student loans have been payed of and he's been able to put quite some money into savings and take care of his parents. For his last movie he's able to use his news stardom to convince the studio to let him play the role of a young doctor in an ER that actually shows how strained medical professionals are post covid. At least he will have played one role that means something to him. He even asks the studio if the can arrange for him to shadow a real ER for a few weeks so he can refresh his knowledge. But when he arrives and meets dr. Robby he quickly develops a crush and just hopes he doesn't embarrass himself.
