i hate when scientists are like âthis planet cant have aliens on it because thereâs no water! the atmosphere is wrong! theres not enough heat to sustain life!â because dude theyre aliens, nobodys saying they need any of those things to exist
weâre so humanocentric itâs infuriating. just because we canât live there doesnât mean nothing can! like, never mind aliens, we do this with our own fucking planet! scientists used to think nothing could possibly live at the bottom of the oceans, because âall life needs sunlight to survive, of course!â yet what did we find when we invented submarines that could go deep enough? the barren wasteland the scientists were expecting? fuck no! the bottom of the sea is teeming with all sorts of weird and wonderful creatures even wackier than anything they ever came up with in star trek! when we discover aliens, we probably wonât even fucking realise it, because theyâll be so different from what weâre used to as âlifeâ, we wonât even recognise them as living beings
things are  heating up in the alien fandom
Imagine that radioactive rocks can achive collective hive minds of placed near enough through particles exchange. Granite is radioactive, its not like they would be in information vacuum lots of times. As one rock would be blown away by wind, the thoughts between hiveminds would be delivering. Yhe meteor for them is reason to celibrate.
Imagine that trees would form different patterns on earth with falled leaves, and as new tree grow, it absorb information from patterns in chemicals im earth, from leaves corruption.
Imagine a sentient winds, they patterns are surely random enough that we cant predict weather in six month. We know them just like we know human brain enough to know how it can react, but not enough to predict near future.
And no one of this species know of others abilitys to think and remember. (Until the aliens land on earth, and we would be shocked, when they would just sit down under the trees, completly ignoring us)

gosh but like we spent hundreds of years looking up at the stars and wondering âis there anybody out thereâ and hoping and guessing and imagining
because we as a species were so lonely and we wanted friends so bad, we wanted to meet other species and we wanted to talk to them and we wanted to learn from them and to stop being the only people in the universe
and we started realizing that things were maybe not going so good for usâ we got scared that we were going to blow each other up, we got scared that we were going to break our planet permanently, we got scared that in a hundred years we were all going to be dead and gone and even if there were other people out there, weâd never get to meet them
and then
we built robots?
and we gave them names and we gave them brains made out of silicon and we pretended they were people and we told them hey you wanna go exploring, and of course they did, because we had made them in our own image
and maybe in a hundred years we wonât be around any more, maybe yeah the planet will be a mess and weâll all be dead, and if other people come from the stars we wonât be around to meet them and say hi! how are you! weâre people, too! youâre not alone any more!, maybe weâll be gone
but we built robots, who have beat-up hulls and metal brains, and who have names; and if the other people come and say, who were these people? what were they like?
the robots can say, when they made us, they called us discovery; they called us curiosity; they called us explorer; they called us spirit. they must have thought that was important.
and they told us to tell you hello.

kinda sounds like we built totaly AWESOME robots and died as species, after our first attempt to programming them u know coz âhello, worldâ is nice program, but why would we write just this one into robots brains? we donât even sell phones with this kinds of apps b/c why would we and the only way i could see that happened: if robots killed us after we tried to first programm them, which. hursh. buuuut we probably deserved this

So my grandfather isn't really a talker, and we spent once 2 weeks at summer house using only phrases like "so, dinner?" and humming occasionally, but today he unexpectedly share some stories with me, and i still quite can't believe that one of them had sentence "i saw some helicopters and hoped that they weren't looking for me" in it. This story also includes survival on half of can of meet, in the rubber boat for literally week.
Like when I thought  my life is boring, i usually remembered that my mother as a toddler survived on wild bird bulion because my grandma didn't have any breastmilk. But I sure as hell would remember THAT story now instead
