something pretty frustrating about spending a lot of time in the US is that i’ll meet other transfems who have been on HRT for a similar amount of time as me, and thus they assume i’ve been out the closet a similar length time — but i’m from the UK. for me to have been on six years of E by 28, i had to be out as trans by 14. most of the time this misunderstanding isn’t that deep, but it’s pretty frustrating to have people talk down to me or explain stuff to me that i’ve already been doing for half my life (and, if anything, should be the one giving advice on)

luckily, all of the girls i’ve explained this to have immediately understood. their eyes go wide and their expressions pale as the understanding of just how much massively higher and more complex the hoops i had to jump through dawns upon them.
