except more angst! instead of light years, grace's soulmark is in miles. or feet or kilometers or whatever. so instead of like 11.9 his soulmark is "6.9956e+13" which is miles between earth and tau ceti. and he cant figure out what distance measurement that is - it cant be seconds or milliseconds or nanometers or like a tiny number because it would have changed in some way over his lifetime. but then he wakes up on the hail mary and its gone down to "1.208e+8". (In my version, theres no labels, so its just a number and people can have everything from light years to feet to kilometers to whatever). And then it drops to a decimal when he sees the alien ship.

grace who watches rocky sleep. rocky who lets grace watch him eat.

grace who is just as dedicated to saving erid as saving earth. rocky who would rather get home six years slower than let grace die.

grace who'd rather die than let rockys mission be in vain. rocky who would rather take grace to erid than watch him die.

nasa employee: this guy hasn't interacted with humans in like 20/60 years should he really be giving interviews?

nasa employee 2: ehh just give him some media training and it should be fine

this is more of a silly one bc i just wanted to draw grace in a suit ^^

Until Grace slips out a sentence along the lines of "could you give me a little grace here" and Rocky immediately points out he used a word wrong so Grace has to explain that yeah, grace means elegance but it can also mean mercy sometimes too.
