⸠vintage black beauty is live!
i've been asked where/how to find early-mid 20th century images of black people to reference when drawing/writing/whatever, so i figured i'd link to my own personal resource anyone is welcome to utilize! :)
with over 900 pins and counting, this pinterest board focuses entirely on black style from the 1800s - 1970s. itâs been harder than ever to research historical fashion without running into AI, misinformation, and flat out mislabeling of different eras, so iâve done my best to represent each period as accurately as i can.
iâve included sections for non-caricatured art and illustration, print media, music, entertainment, styling tools, and ads. there are also sections for period pieces and more modern takes on vintage style. i did not add the 80s and 90s because there's already a wealth of imagery and information about those decades, but maybe one day :)

Racism in fandom spaces is actually insanely bad and if you ever try to downplay or avoid conversations about it because "fandom is supposed to be fun" then I'm not sorry to say this: You're adding on to the problem.
If POC speaking up about a fandom's racism issue offends you more than the racism itself, you need to think about that. You need to think about how POC fighting racism offends you more than the racism.
fuck off!!! im so mad at this comment that i can't even articulate why, all im seeing is red đĄ
joshua graham, aside from FOUNDING THE LEGION with caesar, committed countless atrocities of his own accord. no one forced him to do them. he was burnt and thrown down a canyon because he lost a battle, not because of any guilt or regret. he didn't leave the legion, he was forced out. and what did he do after? he started quoting scripture and did all that again with the dead horses! this time with a little manifest destiny bullshit sprinkled in!!
ulysses, meanwhile, was a slave in the legion's slave army, forced to serve caesar after his entire tribe, culture, identity, and home were wiped out. he left the legion on his own when it was safe for him to do so. what wrongdoings has he done that he didn't do on pain of death, under caesar's name? what wrongdoings did he do that's on par with joshua graham's? what is his great sin, aside from asking the courier to confront the consequences of their actions??
Not that the broader strokes of your point about comparative guilt arenât correct (they are) - and that you are arenât correct about Joshua gram as a person (you are) or that you arenât right about how Ulysses came to do what he did initially (you are)
But âwhat did Ulysses do aside from challenge the courier to confront their own actions?â
Attempted genocide via Nuclear Holocaust 2: Radioactive Boogaloo.
Would be the thing that comes to my mind. Thatâs uh. A damn bit more than you can justify as being âasking the courier to be accountableâ.
And that? He 100% did of his own accord. Separate from the legion.
please note, for the record, that:
1. ulysses has the missiles aimed at dry wells and long 15, two military outposts for the legion and the ncr, respectively, not any majorly populated location
2. hitting one, or both, would not be unleashing a nuclear holocaust or causing genocide - it's to destroy strategic routes for either faction, making the war effort extra difficult for them
3. the choice to nuke one, or both, or none of these places is up to the courier
4. you can talk him down. with your words, by sympathizing with him, you can reason with him and have him realize what he's doing isn't the right way
5. ulysses is lashing out because of the trauma of his history - he was enslaved, his tribe was eradicated, and he was forced to perpetuate the legion's cycle of violence on pain of death. he is a desperate, suicidal man wanting to die, and wants to take down the forces that have hurt him down along with him for good measure
6. you can talk him down. you can de-escalate the situation. you can, and i cannot stress this enough, prevent the bombs from dropping just by showing a little understanding, a little kindness, a little grace
7. i am not defending what he attempted to do. it's bad. i acknowledge that. but it's not nuclear holocaust, it's not genocide, and it's not as horrible and terrible as what other fnv characters have actually done
thanks
@datura-tea this is such a good analysis. So many people just fundamentally misunderstand Ulysses and I can't tell if they're just confused, willfully ignorant, or actively malicious. He uses very deliberate language!! There's a reason he describes his plan as "cutting the throats" of the Legion and NCR. He's explicitly going for their throats!! In his own words!! He's not trying to murder everyone he's trying to destroy the trade networks and war machines of these vast nations. It's not good, but it's also absolutely the least villainous motivation of ANY antagonist in the game.

waiter waiter more mailmen pleaseee !!
Fallout nola alligators must be scary as fuck
they are! thanks for giving me an excuse to post more fallout nola concept art. personally i actually donât think theyâve mutated as much as other creatures weâve seen. gators irl are actually not as likely to attack humans, however i do think post-war, with a smaller food supply, they have taken to hunting down humans more. as such, theyâve mutated and evolved over time to be larger, have wider jaws and throats, and improved strategy of hunting prey. more intent behind them.
tangentially related but i do think that mutated crocodiles may be more like the âdeathclawsâ of the south. honestly there may be crococlaws. deathodiles. some sorta cross between them cus theyâre a lot more comparable imo. i know âgatorclawsâ exist in the nuka world DLC, but that was due to human intervention and not naturally occurring. gators i might compare more to the mirelurk kings/queens (tho trust there are mutated crabs down there too).
gators lurk a lot more. ppl in fallout nola have already built their settlements on stilts and higher ground, and itâs not uncommon for the gators to hang around the bottom of some places, particularly more rural towns, in the hopes someone or something falls in the water. boats tends to keep them away, but if oneâs particularly hungry and the boat isnât too big or loud, itâs not unheard of for them to attack.
people actively hunt them tho. their skin is really tough and used pretty regularly as leather. some ppl make a name for themselves hunting them.
ok thatâs probably enough outta me LOL
i am sorry
