i really love his guest appearance in csi: miami (9x05) as jason kreeger. he plays a murder suspect that can't quite remember the crime and nothing is what it seems. he has a moment in the episode that has me in tears every time i watch it.

i wouldn't call his guest appearance in er (13x07) underrated (i think most people would agree that shawn is great in this role) but it's a definite must watch. he plays the character of willis petyon a DID patient who needs a life saving procedure but one of his personalities is refusing treatment. it's an amazing and heartbreaking performance. it was also the first time shawn worked with john wells. it would mark a 20 year working relationship with shawn appearing in five of john wells' shows.

there are no small parts with shawn. even if he's in show or movie for a few scenes he really gives 110% to each role. he has talked about how he approaches his roles and he always tries the find the humanity in each character, good or bad. he creates a backstory for each one to make them feel real to him. you can see that in his performance no matter what the show or movie.

baby shawn is also great in outside providence, borstal boy, and dallas 362 (movies he did his early 20s). his episodes of criminal minds and dexter are faves as well.

i was wondering if you know of an interview shawn gave where he said something along the lines of hoping to explore abbot’s mental health getting worse??

i’m sure i read an interview like that a while ago but i can’t find it now
