[text]: you could never make him feel left out! hmm, valid point but you could use uncle brain and make it a new thing! malibu is stunning, it's no wonder you fell in love with it.. plus, being able to surf every morning. my sister has a son but he's a teenager now! and my two brothers are no where near having kids so mum is really missing her grandbabies! luckily, she was able to visit for the los angeles babylon premiere and visit for a bit and now she gets to see them again while we're visiting home but I know she'll be telling me she needs us to move by the time the trip ends! lol
[text]: Good. It feels a little like Australia but on the other side of the ocean. Nothing will ever compare to the motherland but I'll settle for a close second. Hah yeah, that's what sold me. Especially with the house I'm in now since it has beach access. The ones mine has keep her on her toes and she loves it. Helps that they all live relatively close to her as well. If I ever have a family of my own I'll probably move back to Australia as well so they can all grow up together. That would be the dream.

[text]: wow, that’s impressive! Were you the proud, cool uncle ready to teach them how to surf as soon as they could manage? It seems like a sport that takes a fair amount of confidence. I’ll be sure to stick to the baby waves before I work my way up to the waves with the pros.
[text]: Must be why I'm not British. Don't love the excessive public attention. Still mostly vegan but not as strict about it. I try to go animal-less when I can but pure veganism didn't agree well with me.
[text]: Hah I mean both of my brothers are into outdoors sports just as much as I am, so they didn't have a choice. I will say that I think it's easier teaching them when they're little. My brothers' twins could snowboard before they could walk and they've never known anything different. It's a lot of confidence but it's a lot of knowing your limits. Or pushing them. Baby waves are great but the last thing you want is assholes running you over, because they will. Some of the surf community has no regard for those trying to break into it.

[text]: that's impressive! how old are your nieces/nephews? that's true, at least I know I'll be okay when I get knocked off the board or if my balance falls me. it's just getting that balance down.
[text]: It sounds very showy. All I need is a cake and some off-key singing. What are my dietary preferences?
[text]: The oldest is 13 and the youngest are 9. They've been surfing and snowboarding since they could stand. It's awesome. It's a lot about confidence too. Find yourself a good beginner surfing spot and you'll get the hang of it in no time. What you don't want to do is try to surf with the advanced surfers. They're brutal and won't cut you any slack for getting in their way.

[text]: that makes sense that you're on the water more than hitting the slopes. once I had an instructor and the other time I tried it on my own. the thing is, I'm a great swimmer since I was a lifeguard growing up but I just need to get the hang of surfing.
[text]: If I was already your creative director, all you'd get me is a tanner cake? Don't I get free tanner as part of the gig?
[text]: We try to get out to the mountains once a year as a family. My nieces and nephews shred hard so it's easy for us all to get out there. Maybe in February or March I'll plan something even if it's just a long weekend to Mammoth. Swimming is half the battle, but it's mostly about balance and endurance. Balancing on the board is similar to skis. Not exactly the same but you're activating a lot of the same muscles.
[text]: yes! you got axe one as well. don't worry, my memory is iffy sometimes too. I blame mum brain. your mum 1000% says that because she wants you back home but malibu is the perfect home away from home place for you. my mum still reminds me everyday that I told her "the kids will be in australia" when I did an interview once, a couple/few years before I had kids. she never lets me live that promise down. I'm keeping that promise, it's just taking a little bit longer!
[text]: Good. Didn't want the little guy to feel left out. People would think I'm kooky if I started using mum brain as an excuse. Mums, man. Am I right? Malibu stole my heart years ago and it feels good to be back a little more permanently. Honestly didn't know how it would go, but it's different this time around. Perks of having siblings with kids. Mine more or less leaves me alone about that stuff because she's satisfied with my brothers and their families. Should've been born later, Margs!

It’ll be piper’s first aussie trip! we started building our dream home there about two years ago and it’s finally ready to move into! a very exciting trip home all around. a few months? I’m so jealous! how was the surfing!? my goal is to get a project going in australia so we can spend more time at home. we plan on moving there/settling down there once our careers settle down but that’s not happening quite yet!
