goin halves on a room with this friend is easin our financial burden a bit while we wait for food stamps next month. we're lookin at $45/night now, & coastin by on whatever food we can scrounge up on a short budget. we're reapplyin for several programs we never heard back from just in case they can help this time. fingers crossed anyway.
my only concern right now is makin sure @cedarsaga has shelter, rest, & enough to eat while we languish in disability determination hell. all of this is harder to come by while i still need to provide care full time, & especially when we're comin down to the wire most days on where we can stay.
we're very grateful for everyone who's helped us even the smallest bit. this has been so hard & scary. thank y'all so much for yr compassion.

confirmed with neurosurgeon today that @cedarsaga has to have a third brain surgery. no concrete date yet but likely in the next 2-6 weeks dependin on surgeon's schedule.
this news is yet another kick in the nuts as y'all can probably imagine. we're already strugglin so much with homelessness & food insecurity, & now my partner needs yet another serious procedure. potentially also serious further treatment dependin on how this third surgery goes.
we still need to ask for help while we navigate mal's upcomin ordeal(s). please consider helpin me give my partner basic shelter & somethin to eat.

I recommend Element; it's very similar to Discord and has basically the same features but it's privacy-focused and both servers and DMs can both be encrypted so only the actual users of those rooms can read the messages.
This means unlike most popular chat apps, including and especially Discord, Element doesn't sell your conversations or tracking data to advertisers, because the company literally doesn't have access to that data in the first place.
I've used it for years and I think it's a natural fit for Discord users.

You know when people find out you ride public transportation to get to places instead of getting into my 2-ton vehicle that costs, idk, a thousand dollars a month to maintain, and they treat you like some sort of peasant who's out there hiking along the roads with a mule trying to sell their magic beans along the way or something, and you can tell they pity you for it! For taking a bus to the shop! Or walking to work! M'am you have the wrong end of this conversation: I am pitying you! I'm sick of it and from now on I will be the one frowning condescendingly and going "isn't that dangerous? sometimes when I'm bored, I go through the list of recent bad faith Wikipedia edits that have since been reverted. a lot of them are politically contentious/offensive topics that attract crazies and trolls in general, but sometimes there are completely innocent inoffensive articles that people attack for no reason. some guy yesterday vandalized the article on the chemical element francium
Francium IS a stupid element. It has a half life of 22 minutes and barely exists at all, only naturally occurring as a product of the extremely rare alpha decay series ²³⁵U ➝ ²³¹Th ➝ ²³¹Pa (𝜷 decay) ➝ ²²⁷Ac ➝ ²²³Fr (1.38% chance). There’s less than a gram of it on earth at any given moment. It has no uses to anybody and it isn’t even the most reactive group 1A element due to relativistic effects fucking up its electron binding energies. Stupid substance.
