Flew to Vegas with college bestie then drove us 2 hours to lake Havasu in Arizona, after stopping for breakfast at a great mom and pop diner, singing songs and talking shit, and then met the bachelorette at the house boat with seven other of her girlfriends all in from different states and towns around California. Floated on my parrot intertube named Benito in the warm ass lake water in 117 degree heat and drank spicy watermelon margaritas and icy modelos. Star gazed on the roof at night (which was somehow hotter? maybe bc of the cognitive dissonance of it still being 100+ degrees with the sun down). Only got mildly burned on my back and honestly kinda bummed I didn’t get more tan. Felt really good to just be in a bathing suit for 48 hours around a bunch of women, some of us hella single, some of us married with kids and owning homes and shit, but all cool, all fun, all totally kind and interesting and different from each other. Drove back to airport after the boating company had to tug us off the shore despite my best efforts to get those stakes hammered in the ground and ropes tied taught lol (was by no means solely my responsibility lol but I do love some manual labor tasks). Stopped for lunch and bestie had to buy a pack of Marlboro smooth menthols bc illegal in ca (fucking delightful mint chocolate chip throwback). Had Popeyes spicy chicken sandos (elite) in the airport after our flight was delayed and got back to the gate just in time for boarding. Read my book for an hour and then drove the hour and a half home from her house to the independent radio station blasting deep house music, and my home is clean bc I cleaned it and my cats didn’t murder each other, and I’m so glad I don’t have work tomorrow but I feel so relaxed and content. Simple little local wedding at work this week then old friend coming from out of state to stay with me for a couple days and we go music festival and dance and drink and have fun. Still some shots left on my silly lil lomo camera and I’m hopeful that there will be some gems when it’s time to develop.
