Flatbread (or rustic, thick flatbreads like naan or pita, which would be available in Westeros)
Meat:
Roast chicken or goat (Chicken is common, but goats are widely raised across the Seven Kingdoms)
Alternatively, pork or beef if available in your area.
Cheese:
Soft goat cheese (Cheese made from goatâs milk would be common in the countryside)
Vegetables:
Leeks or onions (A staple in Westeros)
Cabbage (A common vegetable in the North and elsewhere)
Garlic (Widespread, used in various dishes)
Herbs and Spices:
Rosemary (Widely available, used for seasoning meat)
Thyme (Commonly used for flavoring)
Black pepper (Imported, but available in certain areas like King's Landing)
Cumin (Although not native, it could be available through trade)
Sauce:
Vinegar and honey (Simple sweet and sour sauce)
Mustard (Common in many cultures, found in some areas of Westeros)
Fermented fruit paste (Such as plum or apple pasteâcould be a sweet addition for flavor balance)
Instructions:
Prepare the Meat:
Roast or stew the chicken, goat, or any preferred meat. Season it with rosemary, thyme, salt, and pepper. Cook it until tender. If you want more authenticity, you could roast the meat on an open flame.
Prepare the Flatbreads:
Use rustic flatbread or naan-style bread (if you can make it yourself, it should be hearty and thick). You can bake it in an oven or cook it in a pan with a little butter to give it a crisp edge.
Cook the Vegetables:
Slice leeks or onions and sautĂŠ them in some fat (lard or butter, if you have it). Add minced garlic to the pan to add depth. If you're using cabbage, sautĂŠ it in the same pan until tender, or leave it raw for extra crunch.
Assemble the Taco:
Once everything is ready, lay the flatbread down as your base.
Add a layer of meat (shredded or chopped) on top of the flatbread.
Top it with sautĂŠed vegetables (leeks, onions, garlic, and cabbage).
Crumble soft goat cheese over the top for creaminess.
Add the Sauce:
Mix some honey and vinegar for a simple sauce that will balance the richness of the meat. Drizzle it over the taco. Alternatively, a little mustard could give it a tangy kick.
Optionally, add some fermented fruit paste as a finishing touch for sweetness.
Serve:
Serve immediately with a simple side of roasted root vegetables, like carrots or turnips, or a small bowl of pickled vegetables to add some extra zest.
Westerosi-Style Taco Variations:
Lamb: In the Riverlands or the Vale, lamb is more common. If you have it, a lamb taco with rosemary and garlic would be amazing.
Spiced Honey: Add extra spices like cinnamon or nutmeg to your honey-vinegar sauce if you're in Dorne or other areas with access to exotic spices.
Mushrooms: If you're in the forests near the Riverlands or the North, wild mushrooms could make a great addition.
These tacos are rustic, hearty, and flavorful, inspired by the ingredients and cooking styles that would be available in Westeros!

ive done a lot of translating to high valyrian in my day and id like to think im pretty good at it sometimes (the way ive spent literal hours researching how just one piece of grammar works to change a noun to an adverb or something is maybe insane)
anyway all that to say i usually know what to look for and how to apply it, but i am struggling with this new bit im trying to translate. âi disdain all glittering gold.â
ive replaced disdain with hate cause there doesnt seem to be a word for disdain in valyrian and hate is the closest approximation. same with glittering â replaced that with shine, and had to manually transform that to an adjective (jehikagon -> jehikere? dunno if its right)
so what i have now is ânyke buqan unir jehikere aeksionâ
(im not as concerned with getting the word order right as i am with the rest of the grammar)
ive learned from a previous answer ânykeâ is potentially (probably) unnecessary here, so that leaves it as âbuqan unir jehikere aeksion,â but the unir there in the middle kinda makes it feel off and im not sure if maybe that also needs to be part of a compound word like valar or how to make it one if so because idk what part of valar is all and what part is men and how to fit aeksion into that equation.
i lost track of what my question was originally meant to be but i guess im wondering if im on the right track and if theres some guidance you may have to get me all the way there.
thank you for your time đ
Uhhhhhh... Not to be that dude, but...maybe be more concerned with that...?
I'm not sure if you know about this site, but my wiki is exhaustively updated with respect to High Valyrian, specifically. There's a team of people that work on High Valyrian and it's massive. For example, you could go to the entry for jehikagon and see that jehikere is wrong: it should be jehikare. And, of course, it has to agree with Äeksion (note the long Ä), so it should be jehikarior. To get the sense of repetitiveness (with "glittering"), you might add Ä- to the front, so Äjehikarior.
Now for "all", why not use the collective? This is how you get "All men must die", so it should work for "I distain all glittering gold". That would be Äeksior. Of course, it would need to be in the accusative, so altogether it would be Äjehikarior ÄeksČłndi. By adding the repetitive you kind of get the aliteration, too, since they both begin with Ä.
Finally you have "disdain", for which buqagon serves. Aside from sound a little more posh, the difference between "disdain" and "hate" in English seems to be one of duration. The words "disdain" and "loathe" seem to emphasize that this is a character trait rather than a reaction. If you disdain something, you've given it some thought, have experience with it, and may use this as a way of describing or characterizing yourself. You can do this with "hate" as well, but it's a much more common word, and so can be used in other more basic ways, whereas "disdain" and "loathe" tend to only have specalized uses. To try to approximate this, you could use the frequentative with buqagon to imply a lengthy duration. That would give you jobuqan "I disdain". In fact, you could even use the aorist if you really wanted to imply that it was a description of yourself, i.e. jobuqin.
Now that you have the pieces, though, I really hate to say it, but the words must be in the right order. I mean, you can change the order of the noun and adjective, if you'd like, but you simply cannot put the verb first and think you've created a Valyrian sentence. It's not just "kind of" wrong: it's completely wrong. It'd be like suggesting "I him saw" is close enough in English because the forms are correct. It's not. It's wrong. This is not a minor part of the grammar you can ignore. High Valyrian is aggressively verb-final. The verb must be at the end.

When I say âfree water, free food, free shelter, free healthcare, free education for everyoneâ in that âeveryoneâ I even include the people I hate. Too many people get surprised at the idea that I do wish for the people I hate to have better lives.
When I say EVERYONE, I mean EVERYONE. These are things ALL people should have. If you reblog this saying âexcept THIS groupâ then youâve missed the point entirely.
I think thatâs what confuses so many conservatives. They want to be the one with the boot so they hear feminism as âwomen get to abuse menâ not Lupe about everyone is equal and we treat all humans as people whatever their genital configuration and preferencesâ and they just assume everyone wants to be yhe boot.
Thatâs more authoritarianism than conservatism but at this point politically good luck telling the difference.

Like imagine you find a 7 year old in the woods and sheâs like my mom is gonna kill me because Iâm prettier than her and sheâs not kidding. You know this queen is that sort of person. So you and your roommates adopt the kid and tell her donât talk to strangers. And she keeps talking to strangers and getting poison combs stuck in her hair and whatnot.
Like yeah thatâs kinda stupid but also sheâs seven. She likes apples.
Also imagine it from the hunterâs perspective. The queen tells you this bitch is prettier than me I need you to take her out in the woods and kill her. And then you see who youâre supposed to kill and itâs a 2nd grader. Like how are you supposed to react to that sort of situation? Kill a human child? No. Because youâre not a brainless evil minion youâre just some guy dealing with a cartoonishly evil monarch. Of course you let her go.
Bad look for the Prince of course. Even if she did age while she was in that glass case. He saw a dead woman and just decided to keep her. And once she stopped being dead he was like weâre married now
He did cause the evil queen to dance to death in red hot shoes though. That was kinda cool.
You are the guardsman assigned to protect the eight-year-old Prince. You are currently in the middle of the forest because he absolutely had his heart set on "going hunting", and the royal second-grader should definitely not be traipsing around the woods on his own. You let him go a little on ahead and he comes running back talking about how there's a dead girl in the clearing and there's no-one else around and he wants to take her home because she's really pretty, Hans, and she's all alone!
You let him drag you to said clearing and okay, that is one angelic-looking dead child alright, and on the one hand the quality of her clothes and the craftsmanship on the coffin (who builds a see-through coffin?) speak to potential Consequences if you simply carry her off, but also for the amount of vines that have grown on the coffin she looks extraordinarily un-decayed, so you should probably get the court alchemist's opinion on that, and there's no way he's going to come all the way out here in his embroidered velvet curly-shoes. And also this kid is technically assigned by God as your natural superior, or something.
So fine. You hoist the coffin onto your shoulder (it's not like the Prince can do it. He's eight.) and head back toward the castle, Prince chattering blithely all the way. And then you turn your ankle on a rock and suddenly there's a thump and a cough and a lot of shouting from inside the coffin and you have now become a key player in a tense political incident with the next kingdom over.
Pause this on each screen, because there's stuff in here I wasn't aware of and I'm sure I'm not the only one. This isn't just cinema, this is free education and I'm grateful for it.
look. i donât think my stretch marks are beautiful. i donât think theyâre tiger stripes or natural tattooos. i donât think my acne is beautiful. i donât think the bags under my eyes are beautiful. i just think theyâre human. and i donât think i have to be beautiful all of the time in order to be accepted and loved and sucessful. i donât think every small detail of my outer appearence needs to be translated into prettiness.
oh my god itâs laika day everyone drop what youâre doing⌠we honour a little dog who was sent up into space 65 years ago today. she was found as a three year old stray mongrel wandering the streets of moscow. her ability to endure hardy conditions got her chosen as the candidate for a journey she was never meant to survive. she passed away seven hours after liftoff. I hope she died dreaming of chasing rabbits up in the stars I love u laika forever and ever

All amazing points and so important to take in.
I think I have done a couple of these, but not habitually or intensely. But it's good awareness for me.
Tenth Doctor x GN!Reader / requests are: open and encouraged
Summary: It's when the Doctor starts messing with things he shouldn't that you realise that you're growing afraid of him. Is it time to slip away unnoticed?
CW: anxiety, crying, fear, Time Lord Victorious!Doctor, hurt- minimal comfort (but still some comfort), angst
Doctor Who tag list: @nyxiethesimp @quickslvxrr (send an ask to be added to a tag list!)
___ ___ ___ ___ ___
Is there anything you can't do?
âNot anymore.âÂ
Those two words. Two innocuous, innocent words. As soon as they left the Doctorâs mouth, pure, cold dread washed over you. You felt fear unlike that which youâd ever felt before coursing through your system. Youâd felt fear before, yes. Youâd been taken hostage by aliens. Almost tortured by Daleks. Almost lost the Doctor and the Doctor had almost lost you, too.Â
But this? Fear brought on by someone you trust- breaking that trust? Someone as powerful as the Doctor? No. You wanted to go home. Now. Quietly, as the Doctor was watching Captain Adelaide Brooke walk up the street and towards her house, you crept backwards back through the TARDIS doors. Youâd set it for home and set the TARDIS to go back and find him after youâd left the doors and left him.Â
God, leaving the Doctor. It was a thought youâd never entertained before the last few months. Since Donna, since Rose. Heâd changed. He was becoming something new, something he shouldnât be. If the Doctor from even one year ago could see himself now⌠heâd be horrified.Â
Rushing towards the console, you swiped at your cheeks, pulling your hands back to see tears collected on your skin. You hadnât even realised you were crying. You steeled yourself and hurriedly wiped the rest of the tears away before looking towards the console.Â
âI- I donât know if you can hear me, or⌠if youâre going to help me, but- but please- I need to go home.âÂ
The TARDIS was silent for a moment as if in contemplation. Youâd spoken to her before when you were in the console room by yourself, but youâd never asked her for anything before. You were terrified she wouldnât listen. You wanted to just slip away and leave the Doctor to do whatever he felt he needed to do. No goodbyes. You werenât sure you could handle them.Â
The TARDIS booted up, starting the process of taking off. You let out a sob. Itâs a sob of relief and of terrible sadness. God, how are you supposed to do this? You can picture the Doctor outside, those sad eyes betraying his heartbreak as someone else leaves him too.Â
âHome?âÂ
You shout, not having realised the Doctor was standing in the doorway. You didnât turn to look at him. Your arms shook with the effort of not breaking down. Youâd told him that he and the TARDIS were your home before all this. It was still true to this day.Â
âI thought⌠I thought we were your home. You and me- travelling the stars.â You can hear the set of his jaw from where you stand. You slowly start to turn, tears streaming freely down your cheeks. âThat not true anymore, eh?âÂ
âOf course itâs true,â you shout, pain ripping through your vocal cords. âI fucking love you, Doctor!âÂ
The Doctor narrows his eyes, shielding himself from the possibility of letting someone back in. Of letting you in.Â
âThen why are you leaving?âÂ
You scoff angrily, wiping at the tears hard enough to leave marks. You chew on your lip for a moment, trying to bring yourself to say the words.Â
âIâm scared of you.âÂ
There, youâd said them. Youâd given life to those four words that had been haunting you the last few months. At first, youâd just thought your anxiety was on a higher alert than usual. It was not necessarily unusual to have flare-ups like this, but then it persisted, and it never seemed to go away. And one day the Doctor gave you this look- this charged, dangerous look and you knew with absolute clarity that that was what it was. You were afraid of what he could do. What he could let himself do.Â
âYou- what?â He looks almost angry for a second before it melts to confusion.
You cross your arms, wishing you had a bubble that you could hide in.Â
âIâm scared of you. Youâre changing. Youâre changing timelines and saving people you shouldnât. Youâre changing things and youâre- youâre becoming a threat.â You sucked in a shaky breath, tears falling faster over your cheeks. âI want to be with you, but- this is not okay. I donât know how to- to- to help you. You donât want to be helped.âÂ
The Doctor was very quiet for a solid few moments, taking in the words youâd let forth like a slew of vomit. He nodded, stepping forward, looking at anything but you.Â
âI see,â is all he replied with at first. âWell, if you want to go back then I wonât stop you.âÂ
Your lip quivers.Â
âIs that all you have to say?âÂ
âWhat do you want me to say? Weâre supposed to be friends- partners. And I come back inside to find you-â he breaks off, gesturing wildly with his hands as he looks for the words. âSneaking off without so much as a goodbye, I mean- and youâre afraid of me? Afraid?!âÂ
You flinched as he came closer. He was so upset, and it only served to make you feel that much worse.Â
âI saved you! I- I had- I have the power to save you!â The Doctor carded fingers through his hair erratically. You let out a quiet sob, shakes wracking your form.Â
âI- oh fuck.â Itâs the first time you think youâve ever heard him swear. âOh, what am I doing? Whatâs- whatâs happened to me?âÂ
Youâre quiet as he has this epiphany. Youâre too worried to be hopeful that he might be seeing the light. Seeing how far gone heâs gotten. It takes him a moment, but then heâs looking up at you in horror. Not horror with you, but horror at himself. He knows. Heâs finally realised the gravity of it all.Â
âOh, my- Darling, please- forgive me?âÂ
You bite on your lip, looking away. You know if he looks at you like that youâll give him whatever he wants.Â
âI have so much making up to do, please- let me- let me start with you. I understand, I promise. You were scared. You are scared. Iâm going to be better. If you want to go, Iâll- Iâll take you home,â he steps forward, reaching for you. âBut if you want to stay. I promise you, I will be better.âÂ
You force yourself to look at him. He looks desperate, reaching for you like if only he could just⌠touch you- everything would be okay.Â
âI donât know,â you whisper. âI want to, but-âÂ
âSay yes,â he replied softly. âIf you want to, then say yes. Please.âÂ
You contemplate this before deciding that the sincerity in his eyes is enough to believe him. You nod, and heâs on you in seconds, wrapping you up in his arms and visibly melting with relief. You wrap your arms around his back, rubbing comforting circles onto the back of his coat as he begins to cry.Â
âIâll be better, I promise,â he whispers, burying his face in your neck. âI promise.â
