the mermaid mask, the most recent installment in the extremely underrated point and click series detective grimoire, is such a good mystery. the logical leaps and theories that it gets you to make, the characters, the voice acting and writing - it really feels like an investigation! yet at the same time, it helps you piece the truth together with seamless game mechanics.
this time i had theories that never came up - under the cut - and i also identified the murderer by chap 2 (though it was just my top guess, i still wasn't 100% sure) which was super satisfying

- had a dream after night 2 of play wherein i learned the murderer was a disembodied hand with long sharp nails that lived inside the stone cauldron, then when i played again i had to sort out my own dream clues from the real ones
BONUS - (from my partner) - that Magnus Mortuga IS the serpent that Seafoam and Stonetop found; is bound to the submarine because he cannot leave the water without reverting to serpent form; needs to drink seawater because of his true nature "that's why he needed the bottles of water"
