Summary: Dan comforts Phil during a difficult panic attack.

A/N: Um, so in many ways I have taken this from my own experience. I do have anxiety and this isn’t me flaunting it but kind of writing down what happens is a bit therapeutic. 

I sincerely apologize if this offends anyone or is misrepresenting the illness. That was not my intention at all. I did pull things from experience so it’s true to me in many ways but some other people may have different experiences.

This in no way is me trying to romanticize anxiety or mental illnesses in general. I apologize if you take it this way.

Phil has dealt with anxiety since he was 14 years old. It really came out of nowhere, and it was severe. Unexplainable panic attacks, waves of nerves engulfing him at random points in the day, and being constantly on edge when he didn’t know the exact schedule. He dealt with all of the internal stuff, but also, the external. He got tired easily, and when his parents started to notice it, they didn’t coin it as anxiety. They would tell him he was just being lazy and needed to get up and go do something with them. Sometimes, he could do it. If there was an exact plan and he knew what was occurring when. But the times when he would ask what the plan is and they would say something along the lines of, “I don’t know yet, we’ll just drive around until we find something, he couldn’t. He would start to feel extremely anxious and would start crying and his parents didn’t know what to do. They thought he was faking it. They thought he was being over dramatic and that the entire thing was an act. They told him he was being ridiculous and that he needed to get over it and start the day, but he really wasn’t able to. 

Eventually, he was brought to a therapist and was quickly diagnosed with anxiety. Since then, he’s been doing much better. He is able to control his anxiety and can usually work himself down before he gets a panic attack. But sometimes, it was like 14 all over again…
