I know we all thought that the modern sequences in AC, the Ezio trilogy, and AC III were boring, but they tied the overarching plot together. They were necessary to form a cohesive story.

I actually grew up with the 03 anime. Didn't even read the manga until after I watched Brotherhood. By all rights, I should be an 03 defender.
I am not. I don't think the 03 anime is bad, even if it does take some wild turns that I think it probably could have done without. It's just that Brotherhood is so fucking good that 03 can't keep up. Brotherhood blows it out of the water.
Its only flaw is that it assumes its audience has seen 03, so it covers the early chapters a bit too quickly. Other than that, absolute fucking perfection.
