i think about irene easterman a lot, actually.
it's not crazy to say that hendrick still loves her, despite his violent tendencies. i'd honestly believe irene was the really the last thing that kept him together
and i personally believe that with hendrick blaming scarfiotti for 'keeping' the information about his divorce from him, the cycle of distrust between himself, avellanos, and scarfiotti (mostly based on his own xenophobic perceptions) truly began after this incident, which only grew worse as time went on (namely during the period where hendrick had to be restrained after amelia's first escape)
and with easterman's emotional incompitence typically reflected into the trials, i don't think it'd be crazy to say that irene somewhat haunts the narrative
