okay bc I see ppl in the tags asking about it and I have VERY strong feelings about this (/pos), (also spoilers for the ‘03 series ahead, obviously) there’s an episode in one of the later seasons called ‘Same As It Never Was’ wherein the bros are magicked away to other worlds/realities, and the one Donnie happens to get stuck in is his own world, 30 years in the future. It’s apocalyptic, and the Shredder is absolutely wreaking havoc. The only thing left of Splinter is a grave. Mikey is down an arm, Raph an eye, and Leo is near completely blind. And future Donnie? Doesn’t exist. He disappeared 30 years ago, and nobody knows what happened to him. The apocalypse happened, essentially, because Donnie vanished/died. There’s a whole lot of other stuff that happens to traumatize our teenage ‘03 Donnie (he defeats the future shredder, but watches his future brothers die in the process) but yeah. ‘03 Donnie dies —> apocalypse. That probably isn’t a heavy burden to carry at all.

I’m tired of seeing people characterize 2003 Donnie as this innocent cinnamon roll who could do no harm when the guy terrorizes his bros for fun, creates weaponized cars cause he thinks it’d be cool, ripped his friend’s head off to shut him up, has killed before and will kill again
