It’s very apparent also that people do not care about male abuse victims. Because it’s almost like this case wasn’t about whether or not he was abused and more over the fact he could ruin her and ruin her career and gain his back

Because if y’all did care…..where are the resources? Where are the articles talking about male abuse victims. Where are the shelters that have places for them…….oh you didn’t look???? You didn’t seek that out. You didn’t read books about it?????? That’s interesting

if seeing that play out like that, knowing it happens to women relentlessly in family and criminal court in dv cases privately and with much higher stakes.... if watching this happen like this, knowing that people who work w dv victims are now reporting that abusers are jokingly referring to their ex/partners as 'miss heard' and 'amber' does not radicalise you and your feminist politics then frankly nothing will. the fact they televised this is catastrophic. the fact this case even went ahead after a judge ruled that amber heard sufficiently proved at least 12 instances of abuse is catastrophic. i hope johnny depp and every waster wife beater fuckin woman hater like him chokes to death on his own fucking vomit tonight. piece of shit

you can have pictures but it’s not enough you can have corroborating witnesses but it isn’t enough you can have texts where he fantasizes about murdering and raping you but it isn’t enough you can have him admitting he was controlling and angry and violent but it isn’t enough. this is going to get people killed

Like I don’t even want to play devils advocate right now because I don’t believe this at all but what people don’t seem to understand is that even if Amber Heard was more than complicit or perhaps a perpetrator of violence (I don’t believe this), this has still served as an opening of Pandora’s box for violent men. Every person who is abused at the hands of their partner is going to get the “well, you’re just like Amber Heard!” treatment. This isn’t up for debate because I’m not wrong. I’ve never been so confident in a belief in my entire life and it’s so depressing that this is the first time I’ve been this sure about anything. I’m telling you from firsthand experience that “you’re just like Amber Heard” is going to quickly become a commonly used phrase for manipulative abusive men across the board. Every girl who gets hit by her boyfriend is going to get called Amber Heard. Every girl who asks for help is Amber Heard. Every girl who raises her voice or fights back is Amber Heard. Today is a great day to be a misogynist.

This is where I think Heard has very good grounds to appeal the verdict. I’m no lawyer, so maybe there’s a better explanation, but this just seems completely nonsensical to me.
