I just remember sitting there as the montage of Five and Lila kept going:

• Johnny Storm, former ‘big time’ actor and model has essentially lost his fame after the loss of his family. Their disappearance remains unsolved and has lost interest (and hope)

• The public have lost interest in Johnny as well, making it seem like his popularity only stemmed from his family’s fame and achievements. It offended him at first amongst the grief, how everyone seemed to turn on him quickly and there no more offers for gigs, but now he’s just mad that people have moved on.

• I don’t know how to word this better rn but depressed fallen off actor vibes. Like drinking wine in your empty bathtub vibes.

• Months later, he decides to pour the rest of his money away to Peter Parker. A former private investigator but now a reporter. Also the only person who doesn’t give him the impression that he’s just humouring Johnny to take him money. Also, Peter agrees to let Johnny in on the whole process. Also, Peter is happy someone is finally hiring him for that side of his business (his jobs are few and far between).

• Peter does try, but there are no new leads for a while even as Spider-Man. Leading him to hang out with Johnny just to feel like he’s earning the money Johnny keeps handing him somewhat. That means accompanying Johnny to the worst interview of his life and juggling the aftermath, it means letting him stay over when his own apartment feels too empty. It might mean that their business arrangement becomes a little mingled with non-business- Peter does genuinely like Johnny, but Johnny doesn’t believe him and thinks it was all out of pity.

• Cue the breakup.
