I swear Maul being such a huge tsundere about Savage (especially at the beginning) is my favorite thing ever.
Death Sentence comic is honestly one of the best examples of that lol
Maul is all like: "Savage is useful, but in the end is no more than a helpful weapon in my quest for revenge against Kenobi, the Jedi, and everyone who stands in my way! Nothing will EVER matter more than my vengeance!!!!!”
Also Maul when Savage gets captured: organizes an entire military campaign + attempts genocide against an entire species + completely forgets about Kenobi for a while just to rescue his bro
(and yeah okay you can argue he was also trying to get to Ja'Boag, but c’mon. Savage was absolutely the priority.)
And the Revival episode? His over the top obsession with Obi-Wan and a need for revenge is there, still so fresh and bloody, and finally, finally Obi-Wan is cornered and alone, no Ventress or his Jedi friend to help him this time and Maul has waited so many years for this moment-
*Savage gets heavily injured*
"FUCK THAT MY BRO GOT HURT ABORT THE PLAN WE NEED TO GET OUTTA HERE IMMEDIATELY!!!!"
Then its them being captured by the Death Watch and Maul is like
"YOU DARE TO QUESTION ME?? OH I'LL SHOW YOU-"
*Bo points her gun at Savage*
"ok nevermind lets talk dont hurt my bro" (also I have this hc that later when Maul forcechoked Bo Katan much longer than really needed he did that not just to prove his point but also to subtly revenge when she threatened Savage's safety)
Vizsla putting his hand on Maul's shoulder and Maul immediately shaking that hand off with visible disgust (and I really think it's not just about Vizsla lol, its about Maul's general dislike of any unnecessary physical contact, especially post TPM) but the first thing he does when Savage wakes up and panics is to calm him down with a touch of his hand as well.
And we have Maul often addressing Savage as an apprentice rather than a brother but when Savage is not around (or is unconscious) Maul only refers to him as his brother - and that’s the very first thing he says involuntarily when Savage is mortally wounded by Sidious.
And dying Savage, expressing regret for being weak and for failing Maul as both an apprentice and a brother, not really realizing how attached Maul has become to him and how his death will simultaneously haunt Maul forever and intensify his desire for vengeance against the galaxy that wronged them both.
(ok i intended this as a funny post but now i made myself sad)
