Saw Iain Mccaig's Maul again and needed to draw about those feelings. I forgot about what its like to draw traditionally, having no control of what stands out overal, drawing what stands out in the moment. You can never make it one to one. It always exposes your perception, even if its in the most minute details, as this painting exposed my love for details in facial expressions. After seeing the sketches i was frantically searching for something that would quell my need to draw this beautiful muse in a way that the original concept artist must have found beautiful. I settled on a screenshot of his face. It seemed subtle enough, not wrinkled by a scowl. I did as you do, draw, look back, draw, look back. The more times i looked back the more i thought on the downturned eyes and the subtle longing and fixated on how the face would respond to that emotion.

Updated my fursona's design for artfight, and gave him a name. Say hello to Midnight Blue. He's very curious, and sometimes gets in over his head. He talks a lot in spite of not being drawn with a visible mouth when he talks. I went for a more comic-strippy design, something that could be drawn over and over.

Maul recovering after the events of son of dathomir, and he and zed feeling bonded and secure enough to confide in each other about their pasts.

Anyway jokes aside, some years into the healing au, Zed finds an orphaned Iridonian Zabrak child. She's starving, traumatized, and emotionally stunted. He absolutely would have found someone else to take her in, but there was no one else around.

It takes a while, but she eventually reveals her name is Sisu, and even longer to reveal that her parents were killed by the empire. It takes even more years than that to reveal the details of that.

Her parents were harboring a jedi for a while. She didn't understand much. She just knew that she was helping keep someone safe who was special. Sometimem later the Jedi departed, and one day Sisu got into a typical parent-child argument. She lashed out in anger and ran away to hide, but from what she heard in the distance, her instincts(she's not force sensitive actually!) tell her to stay hidden. She comes out and sees what Luke saw on tattooine. Needless to say its why she's so messed up and emotionally stunted.

Naturally, Maul being a Zabrak, she takes immediately to him. He's used to looking intimidating, but he knows whats going on now, and he doesn't like it. In this AU, he is in some way introspecting, but at times he'll just wallow in regret and self pity, and get into some of his bitter moods. Time will tell if he becomes attached.

For those who have known me for a while, you may recognize this character. I'm working on branching off from cookie run because its disappointed me one too many times. So I'm just taking the characters i liked from there and making my own franchise for funsies.
