The weird pattern of trying to rip black characters from the hands of black people, who already have so little representation in the anime space is disturbing. I feel like no matter how unapologetically, how undeniably, how very clearly black a Manga artist will make a character, if they make them look "too cool" or have too interesting of a personality nonblacks will start frothing at the mouth to tell you all the reasons this character couldn't be black. Like, you're just racist 😭😭 you actually like it that black people aren't looked upon favorably in Japan because it means less black people in your anime. Or, black people who are drawn and written to be disgusting stereotypes. You HATE it when they're depicted in real ways, despite screaming down black people's throats when they make edits of characters. You scream for us to support "real" black characters, then do this EVERY time a cool one comes out. You're sick in the head!! Desscaras is a black woman!!

BFCD Celebrates Magical Black Girls

A couple of things happened that led to me making this list. The first was this post, which probably will annoy me for the rest of time, whenever I recall it. The other reason was @creatingblackcharacters presented a theme of Black Girl Magic May. BFCD loves a theme! (There often isn't enough content ON Tumblr to go very far with them, but we love to have them, when we can. So, in participating with cbc's Black Girl Magic May, I went through the blog to try to gather up all the magical Black girls featured here!

For context: I am going with the concept of magical girls and listing the Black and/or Black coded ones. I am not mentioning every Black character who has magic, and I am not listing nonmagical Black Girl Magic (shoutout to CaShawn Thompson!! If you don't know her, that's interesting to me. Hello! It's me! I am back! With the Black Vampire Skin Tones/Shades! Last time! You said that you liked Light Blue with Brown better! So I decided to use it and practice with it. And also used it on different Dark Skin Tones.

I had a lot of fun with them.

The letters of the Skin Tones/Shades stand for:

DTA - Deepest Almond (I added a T because I didn't want it to be confused with DA/ Deep Almond.)

EDA - Extra Deep Almond

VDA - Very Deep Almond

DA - Deep Almond

MDA - Medium Deep Almond

EDG - Extra Deep Golden

DG - Deep Golden

MDG - Medium Deep Golden

MG - Medium Golden

I had to do Medium Golden twice. Because I wasn't sure about the first one (Left one). Which for the first one I shade Light Blue first and then I shade in Medium Golden. The second I did the reverse. First MG and then LB. And repeat. I was wondering if I could get advice for them?

I admit the combos are not my favorite, but that's on purpose lol. You're trying to make them look washed out. I appreciate all the thought and experimentation that you've been putting into this!
