Choosing only 31 was a difficult task, but we hope the final collection inspires some great ideas for our upcoming event. The above image is a condensed version of the prompts that were chosen; all prompts will be listed in their originally submitted format below the cut, AND for each daily prompt post throughout August. Augustellar will be running from August 1st to August 31st. We're sharing the Official Prompt List now so that all participants have some time for ideas to percolate or to start one some basic artistic groundwork, but the goal of this event is to create art every day for 31 days. That means no blasting off early!

Was Stratt condemned by all of earth for her role in the phm mission and forced to escape imprisonment, or did she continue the mission afterwards with gov't approval? what do all our cities look like during an ice age? just ice age earth and eva + co. trying to save humanity while grace + rocky are out saving the stars!

Or maybe erid has just broken the lightspeed travel barrier, and a first contact entourage is sent down to interview the genuis engineer who invented their first warp drive...

Submitted by: @beetledragon Grace describes something as magneta and rocky is confused as to why the light-to-texture device reads it as green. (Middle rough) Cue Grace having to explain that magenta happens when the average wavelength of an item falls into the green section but the item itself actually reflects exclusively red and blue light so our brain interprets it as magenta instead of green. Rocky baffled that the human brain just straight up invented a color that doesn't really exist.
Submitted by: @delyth88 Prompt suggestion: Grace has spent nearly a decade on the Hail Mary by the time he gets to Erid. Like him its survived far longer than was ever intended and is looking a bit worn around the edges. How does he feel leaving the ship? Is it a relief, or does he miss it? Is he sad to go? Scared about leaving its safety even though it's cramped? Or is it falling apart when he gets to Erid and no longer a safe haven? And what does Rocky think about all of this?

Submitted by: Anon i feel like not a lot of people talk about grace's starvation near the End of the trip to erid and I think that it should be more delved into with more impact such as the obvious more medical reasons such as unable to gain weight or muscle ect ect, but I would like to see more ED rep, especially because personally I head cannon grace as on the spectrum, and I, who is on the spectrum, suffer from mild arfid. so its something I'd like to see :D Submitted by: Anon i want more of grace gaining weight on erid! i want him recovering from starvation (and if you so choose, an eating disorder) and gaining weight and being happy!! also! physical disabilities. maybe grace has to use a cane or a wheelchair or crutches or compression clothes. maybe rocky has chronic pain or joint issues or chronic fatigue. (we should make the rock disabled too)

THIS 🤣🤣 imagining the absolutely bonkers kinds of eridians that must have been yoinked from their jobs to suddenly be in charge of keeping the FIRST SAPIENT ALIEN EVER alive brings me cackling-maniacally levels of glee. yes, please tell me more about the eridian lab tech who does the boring, monotonous cataloguing of bacterial glycosyltransferase enzymes suddenly having their space phone BLOWING UP. random eridian who's job is just. feeding and wrestling the big terrestrial predators at the zoo into taking their meds is suddenly missing from work, later found to be kidnapped and taken to Eridian WHO headquarters with new job of putting pills in peanut butter for rocky's new alien pal. thank you thank you!
I would frankly read an entire second novel about these kinds of shenanigans, statement.
Also, I have a small headcanon that Grace - eventually, maybe even very very very eventually - clocks that his Eridian care team did not, strictly speaking, all sign on as volunteers. Cue flashbacks to the wild old days with the Petrova Taskforce...
And then, various Eridians who interact with Grace directly are mildly baffled and rather endeared when their one (1) alien specimen attempts to clumsily discern whether they're being forced to take care of him under duress, and if there's anything he can do or anyone he can talk to so that no one working to help him is doing so against their will.
Adding onto the pile: Grace is of two minds about telling them that he doesn't need his pills wrapped in peanut butter. On one hand, he's a fully grown adult who's completely capable of taking his own medications. On the other, peanut butter.
Secondary thought, because treating a sapient being with all the caution of a crocodile is a favorite trope of mine: a catchpole and shield are brought in with the first check-up. The first is standard, the second is because highly distressed humans are known to expel hydrochloric acid (according to their own thinking machine).
Come to think of it, the wild animal angle would work better for a Bloodmary style crossover. Simon's in fight or flight mode, and there wasn't really room for flight. That's a man who's not going to realize what's going on (they don't know he needs light to see) and is going to need the peanut butter. Possibly even the catchpole.

the humans notice murderbot being somewhat less of an asshole one day
ART's humans, who don't know it very well, are pleased, thinking that perhaps this is them being accepted into the inner circle
Murderbot's own humans, meanwhile, are Concerned and Perturbed. Is SecUnit okay? Is it malfunctioning? Has it been hacked by a malicious individual?
ART confirms that no, Murderbot's systems aren't compromised, its vitals seem to be normal, etc.
Murderbot tries to play it off, like it thinks everyone else are the weird ones.
After a lot of needling though, it admits haltingly that it had noticed that Three's conduct encouraged more group cohesion and made the job of protecting the humans easier, so murderbot had decided to follow its lead.
ART, who sometimes knows Murderbot's own feelings better than it knows itself, translates: "Now that there's a higher-end secunit around who isn't a total asshole to everyone around it, I'm afraid that you will all realize that you're tired of me and that there's no reason to keep me around anymore."
Even before ART is done speaking, all the humans around them have broken out in outraged exclamations, all talking over each other in a rush to refute the statement.
Murderbot is mortified, and wants to go hide in a corner staring at a wall until everyone has forgotten this whole thing. It knows its humans well though, and it knows that they won't be letting this topic go any time soon.
It tries to ignore the mushy feeling in its chest that feels suspiciously like relief.
kudos to Ryland Grace for finally being the true “I am alone in space” representation we deserve by sobbing his eyes out every chapter. Relatable. I do that and I’m not even light years away from my bed

as pride month begins, i can't tell you how nice it is that probably the most widely accepted headcanon for ryland grace is that he's aroace. and then with bloodymary added to the mix, that the relationship between simon and grace is most often at least asexual if not also qpr. i just can't remember a time in a fandom when i had so much freedom to think about characters this way with other people and so many options in fanfiction for relationships that don't have to be about sex. and that makes me feel a lot more comfortable with what i can want out of a companionship, and that i myself don't have to compromise on sex and intimacy for the sake of a relationship, because there are so many people in the world who think and feel the same.
for a queer identity that's often stereotyped for its loneliness, this is the least lonely i've felt about it in a long time.
