i was caught up in the flashbacks and so eager for their relationship to come to fruition, but just like June, my hope was crushed under the weight of betrayal. surprise!

“i came to see you. at the hospital.”

“you were there? is that why you agreed to spy for the americans? to see me?”

“i had to. i had to see you.”

Luke waiting for her and going through newspaper clippings has always been overshadowed by Nick's actions and unconditional love. He constantly put his life on the line for her. He did everything for her. Gilead changed June, as it would change anyone and she isn't the same person as before. Luke isn't the man he was and he's expecting her to go back to the way things were between the two of them. His subtle misogyny, pouting, and need for her to forget the last 7 years is beyond infuriating. I truly believe her and Nick make sense after everything they've been through. They grew and changed together. This isn't to say I don't like Luke. I understand his character. He has his own share of trauma and his daughter is gone too. They just aren't compatible anymore and it's glaringly obvious.
