To start with Hayate fully planned to ignore the knock at his window. BUT doing so might allow the disturber to carry on, LEAVING Hayate to deal with angry neighbours later. A sigh escaped dry lips, as the ninja, ran his tongue over them, still in a half asleep daze. “One minute.” The words came out as a grunted bark, despite his easy going nature.

 Yawn followed by short bursts of coughs could be heard from within as the ninja splashed some cold water across his face, in the hopes of waking up a little more && wiping all the remnants of sleep from his face. Opening the wind, left hand lightly pressed to the hilt of his sword, the man had to fight the instinct to close the window once more on his friend. 

 But instead, his nose wrinkled as he heard the dubious proposition. With a heavy sigh, he simply nodded, once more coughing, one hand up, holding three fingers indicating his need for a couple of minutes to ready himself. Once dressed, Hayate met his friend once more outside his window, with a light shove forward he finally broke the silence. “Sorry for the wait, I feel like I’m going to regret this.” Words he often lived by. 

“Yeah well, no one’s going to die. That may be how you grew up, but I won’t let it happen.” He’s already saved Inojin and Chocho from falling in the black ink at the bottom of the pit- the flag addition wouldn’t be that bad.

“Besides, my Dad helps run this, he wouldn’t let me die.”

“Right, so your dad will protect you....&& Then what? You make Chunin...&& everything will be fine?” He takes a breath, coughing into closed fists. He knows he’s being TOO harsh, that he’s probably going to receive a talking to later, but DEATH was part of being a ninja, && even if these exams were easier, it would only take a moment for things to go wrong. 

“I could train with you in kenjutsu if you TRULY wanted to join the Anbu.” Rough coughs broke up his speech, but the words were still meant with the best intentions. If she asked for it, he’d help her in ANYWAY that he was able. 

“You know, I don’t CARE if you whine, cry or die. If you’re a Shinobi you’re going to do what needs to be done. && that’s what those tests are going to teach you.”
