It had been a couple weeks since little Maddie was born. Gage had talked Evelyn into a girls day with Malia, knowing that Malia was dying to see Maddie again. He on the other hand made arrangements to spend a day with Alice. When they first met he didn’t exactly trust her or any other vampire than his wife. Since coming to the community he had been more at ease forming friendships with her and Malia.

“So I never really thanked you for that night.” He placed a bottle of champagne in front of her. “I heard this is a really good one. You can share it with Malia, if she drinks. Being frozen forever at eighteen.” It was a five hundred dollar bottle behind a closed case after all. Vampires did have their way to being rich, sometimes without working at all. “It took us a day for it not to be awkward, her coming back from the dead. If she hadn’t, I would have been on suicide watch.” He didn’t want the day to be depressing so he had changed the subject. “You said you wanted to show me around. The fun stuff was the term you used.”
